Simple to read and precise
I've read and skimmed through other books that give such guidance and advice on job hunting and writing skill for CV's. When I started reading the first chapters I flowed so easily and prepares you with the foundations of the do's and dont's' of Cover Letter writing and thus giving one a better understanding of what one was writing wrong before. I can truly say that I recommend this book better than other sources online. I now can tailor my letters to the audience I am presenting my experience.

Readable good stuff
I need to find a job and these martine Yates books are readable. Some of the cover letters should are way above my league though. But I’m picking some things up from them.

I am retiring from the military and 24 years of service left me with marketable skills that surely did not include how to write a cover letter or draft a resume. This book, and it's companion on writing a resume, were tremendously helpful.

I have never read such a dedicated piece solely on the art of cover letters. Well written and with many examples, it covers a plethora of professional profiles and situations. I believe a fair amount of value can be extracted from this book, for those hunting for better job opportunities.

Best guide I've ever read so far. Not only there are almost 200 pages of example letters, but also countless great suggestions on paper, font, subject line and job hunting methods etc.

I found the advice in Knock 'em Dead Cover Letters to be outdated and not applicable to my job search. The book seems to be geared toward entry-level positions and doesn't offer any new insights. I was disappointed with the lack of concrete examples and strategies for crafting an effective cover letter. Overall, I would not recommend this book.

I bought the book as a recommendation of a friend since I am heading into the job search market soon. The book is full of humungous amount of information, examples, and tactics to get your cover letter, resume, and job application in general more visible. The book might be a light read but applying it won't be a task for done in a couple of hours, you got to be prepared to give a lot of time and dedication in order to adapt all these tactics.I am currently applying these tactics in my job hunt and about to send my first application out.

I'm in the middle of a job search and purchased several books I was hoping could help me jazz up my cover letters. "Knock'em Dead Cover Letters" was not worth the money. After reading through several different cover letter books and speaking with a career coach, the majority of things suggested in this book is out-of-date and way too bland. The example cover letters in the book provide no pizazz and do not make the applicant stand out. The words used and the way the sentences are structured make the examples seem like "what not to do" examples from the other books I've read. I'm always frustrated when I end up with books I don't find useful or helpful.
