Invaluable Data/Video over fiber
Can't beat the price. They work great! Many different uses but I send RS485 Dsan Speaker Timer data over fiber from FOH without running and spending time terminating a Cat5 cable...or 2. The SFPs are directional so mark which is transmitter and receiver. Note- SDI Rx is Data Tx and visa-versa. They were probably meant for the Security PTZ community, but I use them in broadcast, sports and events industries.

COMPLETE FAILURE
Had the largest event we have ever done and needed an HDMI to Fiber Converter set. After doing my research I purchased these as they seemed like a good product. Could not get the signal through. The venues Fiber Optic Tech ran diagnostic's on their system. It was fine, so he ran a diagnostic on the signal we were providing and it too was fine. He then tested this equipment and the transmitter would not talk to the receiver. What an expensive piece of junk. You can bet it's going back!

Dependable 3G-SDi with rs485 data
Unit is well made with rock solid video and data transport. Power and video presence lights with a data activity flicker is very helpful for confirming connectivity. Units have been on-line 24/7 for a month. They are operating reliably.

Draws too much power on HDMI 5V rail; RS-232 issues
I'm using this HDMI-fiber extender with a Panasonic LUMIX camera as the HDMI source. Intermittently the video just goes black for a few seconds. This happens while everything is just sitting there, but also can be triggered if I try to move or do anything with the camera (autofocus, stabilization, etc), or if the camera battery is <20%. I suspected that the extender was putting a momentary high load on the 5v rail, so I added a HDMI power inserter into the HDMI-IN of the transmitter... and boom, rock solid signal forever. Love the product and especially the small footprint, but they gotta get the 5v load, or the Hot Plug Detect, or whatever it is up to HDMI spec so that it stops resetting the connection with these battery-powered devices, like cameras. Note: if you go for my solution with the power inserter, make sure its supplying 5v to the MALE side (the extender side) not the female side (the camera side). I bought one that went the wrong way and had to crack it open and solder it the right way. **UPDATE** This device also has some minor issues with the RS-232 protocol. From Receiver to Transmitter it can go up to 250kb/s (maybe even higher), but in the other direction you can't go over 57k without getting timing issues and corruption. I saw it uses a MAX3232 chip internally, which is generally rated to 250kbps. I bypassed it on the circuit board to go right to the source signal (3.3v UART), and the behavior was the same. So this isn't really an issue with RS-232 but with the internal UART circuit. I tested this on two different pairs from the same manufacturer, and behavior was the same, so this is definitely a flaw in the design or maybe I'm just pushing it beyond the design spec. There's no listed ratings the RS-232 side channel in the manual, so I guess I can't complain too much?

Awesome little device
The signal sending is high-speed, the device that I can remotely control my computer with my mouse and keyboard is of good quality. I didn't experience any lag in the signal

Nice clear picture
Connected to cat6 cable. Plugged into power on transmitter side. Only connected to cable on receiver end. About a 50 foot length. Picture and sound is perfect

I don't regret buying it. A truly powerful SDI extender!Easy to connect and use, simple installation. Full HD video that is clear even over long fiber optic cables. Quite convenient to connect to a local monitor. It worked flawlessly when we used it for live streaming. We are very satisfied.
