I found the balaclava to be comfortable under my helmet. The put the seams on the sides of your head instead of down the middle which eliminates the pressure point on the top of your head. The mask is a mesh which is easy to breath through. The material does wick moisture but it is not the same as no balaclava. The point is to add a layer of protection for you helmet lining and ease the donning and doffing of the helmet. Much more difficult to clean your helmet liner than the balaclava. I did find the glasses holes to be to small to be useful. I simply cannot hit the holes with my glasses stems.

I got this for my husband for work. He is out in the sun a lot and sunscreen isn’t always enough. So, I thought this would be great for sun protection and keeping him cooler, as it advertised. The fit of this mask was perfect. Even though it looked small, It stretched to fit him really well. It is also very light weight and breathable. However, the problem he had, was after wearing it for a while he got super hot. We live in the northeast and it gets really hot and humid here in the spring and summer months. He said he was sweating a lot with the mask on. So much so, he ended up having to take it off in order to continue working. This mask is a dark grey and not sure if a light color such as white, would have made a difference or not. But this one was certainly not working at making him feel cooler. I do feel that this mask would be okay for sun exposure for in milder less humid temperatures. It would also work well for warmth, wind and sun protection during the winter months. But, for the hot humid days here in the northeast, it just didn’t work for the cooling aspect. Instead, my husband said he wants to try it for this winter instead. So, I would recommend this mask for the cooler winter months!

This balaclava is great for summer motorcycle riding. It's thin enough to not trap heat coming off your head, and has a cooling effect when air passes over it. Not so thin that I'm afraid it will tear in the wash. It has holes in the temples that you can put the arms of glasses through. This is a big deal for people who wear glasses, though I personally don't. The biggest pro for me personally is that it doesn't fog up my helmet's visor or sun shade. The area covering the mouth is made of a mesh that allows air to easily pass through. Even if you cough or breathe heavily, you won't fog up even a little bit! This has been my problem with balaclavas and motorcycle helmets in the past, and this particular balaclava solves that problem! I have one in black and gray. My only critique is that I wish this was one of those 2-piece balaclavas; the ones where the portion that covers the mouth is a separate strap sewn into the back, so it can easily be pulled down to expose your face. If this balaclava was like that, it would be the perfect summer riding accessory. Good price for what you're getting.

I work in a bakery and it's 85-95 degrees F during most shifts. As part of our covering many of my colleagues use these masks to keep sweat from building on their heads, neck and faces along with similar undershirts, etc. I finally tried this one and although the guys giggled a bit when I first hit the floor, this thing really works. Keeps you about as cool as without it but no sweat build up or drip which keeps you dry and comfortable.... and I thought they were just hiding ear buds, lol. I will be wearing this mask and grab a few more to use as a new part of my work gear setup. Five stars, nicely made too.

fits me pretty well, I was afraid it feel hot worn out in the sun. It does feel kinda cooler, I guess from keeping the sun from directly hitting my skin. I only wore it for about a half hour. It might change and get warm after a longer time, or it might soak up any sweat and become like an evaporative cooler? I'm leaning towards it will soak up sweat and any breeze will help it cool. We have real hot weather coming, if it doesn't work, I'll come back and edit this review

I wore it once. Theres already teasrs in the fabric. the nose part is a bit too tight and restricted. Save up for a better one.

I wanted to get something that would help protect my face from the bugs when on the motorcycle. This face mask is easier to wear if putting your whole head and face into the mask. If you try to put it on just as a neck gaiter then the opening is a little tight to try to work your head through. I like using this at night when the bug activity is heavy. It helps to reduce the bug guts on my face. I did not notice a cooling sensation with this material but I did not overheat with it on. The mask is a comfortable and soft material. I will continue to use this when not using my full helmet.
