I' ve got my wife the Lego bonsai kit for Christmas, and was happy to find out that there's a 3rd party aftermarket for adding led lights to existing kits. First things first - hopefully it's completely obvious but the actual bonsai kit isn't included, this is just a lighting pack to add that bit of sparkle to the existing kit.Inside the box are all the parts (split into 3 bags) and an instruction manual. The manual isn't really a manual as such but a link to the website where you can enter the code to get full instructions that you can use on-screen (or print if you wanted). As it's a Christmas gift and my wife will be making both the actual bonsai tree and putting the lights on, so I didn't do much apart from a quick test using the USB connection (speaking of which you get a USB plug, which we will use, and a battery pack you could use instead if you prefer). The instructions look pretty decent - there's plenty of steps but they are all well illustrated and look easy to follow. I'll try and add a picture of the completed tree with lights after Christmas.Adding lights to lego is a great idea, and this is a nice, fairly simple way to enhance an already nice looking kit.

The light set was bought as a gift to go along with the Lego set I purchased. The Lego set was built and the lights put on, but one of the lights for the lotus would not connect at all. Tried to find contact details to ask seller for replacement part, but can’t find any? Also as this was given as a gift - person lives 2 hours away from me, so returning is not straightforward.

It was a little bit fiddly to set up because of the parts being small. You don't need to take off too much lego to fit it on. You can run it off a battery pack or usb (both included). It turns a great lego set into a fantastic one. We don't need the light on in the evening when this is on.

Bought as a present for an eight year old. Apparently it’s quite tricky to fit the fine wires into Lego bricks (Dad had to put the wires into place with the tweezers that came with it). The dungeon lighting effect is great but I don’t know how long it will last as it’s apparently quite delicate.

I did look at a few sets before purchasing this one. It was a little more than others, but they had a very good video tutorial (which as it turns out is aabsolutely essential). This was my first lightning kit, and it is quite a fiddle to fit. A lot of care is needed as the tiny wires are very thin and fragile and go under the bricks in-between the round brick lugs. The end result did exceed my expectations. The set looks lifeless without this lightning kit. I would recommend this to anyone that has purchased this lego set. 5*****

The media could not be loaded. I was not sure about buying these lights, as the price was almost equivalent to the price of the lego tallneck. However, I don't regret buying it. The tallneck looks fascinating during night and it illuminates son's bedroom. We put it on the shelf and the remote enables to switch it on and off easily. The video shows how you can switch all set off lights one by one. Alternatively you can press on/ off button on the remote. Indeed, it requires patience and to follow either PDF or YouTube video to assemble the light. It took 40 min to put lights on.
