First are these worth the money? Yes.I have two of these for my four cats. I bought them within two weeks of each other and have had them about a month.They aren’t perfect but they are much more convenient and less smelly than regular litter boxes.Before, I was scooping poop daily to every other day out of four litter boxes. They would get smelly in a hurry because my cats aren’t bright and don’t always bury their poop……and I also had to do full litter changes quite often. So it was costing a lot to keep them clean.With these, I change out the bags about twice a week and just add a few cups of litter. These use considerably less litter and with the amount of $ I’m saving on cat litter, these things will pay for themselves in 6-8 months.That said, they aren’t perfect. I’ve given up keeping them connected to the WIFI. They won’t stay online. It’s so incredibly annoying to pay so much for something and one of the features not work. I’ve seen numerous comments about this from other reviews and hope Pet Safe will get its act together.Also, sometimes poop or litter clumps will stick to the walls of the thing and not drop into the bin. So if you buy these, hold on to you litter scooper—you’re still going to need it.Speaking of the walls of the thing, you’re going to need to wipe them down occasionally. You’re also going to need to wipe down the grate thingy too because bits of litter will get stuck to it as well.Also, keep a mat outside of the litter box. Sometimes the clumps bounce out of this thing into the floor.I do like the convenience of it though overall. It does need some fine-tuning. Maybe future models will be better.It would be neat if they could offer just a regular version that doesn’t have wifi connections or an app. It can cut manufacturing costs and pass the savings on to the customer. That part of it doesn’t work anyway so what is the point in having it?Anyway, as far as noise goes, it runs pretty quiet. It does beep when a cleaning cycle is complete but that’s not a dealbreaker.Overall, they are worth the cost for the convenience because the basic functions work and that’s why I was buying this anyway.Update: January 2025. I posted my original review in August 2024 after having these for a month.I’ve had them 6 months now and am still quite happy I bought them. No more daily cleaning. I still only have to change the bags 2x per week. It was great when I had pneumonia and could not do most household chores.Bear in mind, these still require regular maintenance. They need wiped down occasionally (maybe once a month) and a good deep-clean every once in a while (maybe every other month)—just like with any other litter box.Even with that, the convenience and the amount of money I’ve saved on cat litter make them worth the investment.I don’t even use the app anymore. I’m just glad I don’t need the app for them to do what they need to do. They work fine without it and I’m okay with that. Again, it would be cool if Pet Safe made an app-free version and passed the savings on to the customer. It should be optional. The app is truly is awful and useless.

I bought this litter box a few months ago because I figured hey, I have other PetSafe products I like so this should be awesome! Well as it turns out I should’ve saved my money.Initially I set it up and discovered the add litter function doesn’t even work. (Where I later learned I have to unplug and replug the box back in anytime I add litter.) Annoying, but manageable I figured since I’m so excited I can live with for now. Now, I could’ve asked for a refund/replacement but by the time I realized that window had closed it was too late.First, I had a problems with using several different brands of clumping litter. (Like they say to use!) I originally used a non clumping litter (Pretty Litter) and it worked like a charm besides dumping excess litter into the bin. (Don’t even get started on the bin.) But since that was wasteful and expensive I switched to clumping litter. I tried Dr. Elseys and it worked good for awhile until the litter and waste in the bin began to mold (yuck…) after only a few days worth of piling up. So frustratingly I did numerous hours of googling to find the next best thing. (Where I discovered several other people having these issues as well.) I tried Arm & Hammer Slide next and it didn’t mold! Well, to my surprise when I came to clean the litter box there were pee and poop clumps smeared all over the grate and left side inside the sphere! (Absolutely disgusting!!!) This started happening multiple times almost everyday so I decided to try another brand of litter. I figured maybe it’s just this brand of litter with a problem but I was sooo wrong. I am now currently using Tidy Cat. The clumps still get stuck every few days. Essentially, my automatic litter box turned into a basic litter box that needs to be cleaned every single day. To prevent clumps from dirtying my cat himself (A big boy who barely fits in the litter box as is!) and smearing on the sphere now have to wipe the inside of it down every single day!!! (Extremely frustrating considering it’s AUTOMATIC!) Now I was pissed about that but I figured at this point I need to get my moneys worth and it’s still better than scooping. (Where I was wrong again…) I come home today and discover there are poop clumps trapped between the sphere and its cover. Not only that but it smeared… all around the outside of the sphere inside the cover and left clumps of poop between the sphere and base. (Which is a spot that frequently traps litter as is.) That was my last straw to (angrily) write this review. I was floored and it was a nastier sight than any litter box I’ve ever cleaned.Unfortunately, I can’t use many features in the app as well. Since the ‘add litter’ function is broken it cannot properly sense my cats weight and therefore can never properly track his litter box usage in the app.To top it off, the waste bin doesn’t even properly sense when it’s full like it should. It notified me once it was full to the point it smeared on the underside of the litter box when the bin was being pulled out. I’ve never been more grossed out than when using this litter box.Lastly, the holes in the grate are too big. They let little small leftover clumps of poop fall through back into the clean litter which just defeats the purpose!I believe the only good thing about this product is the fact my dog can’t get in the waste drawer to eat poop anymore which is a miracle but not worth this hassle.I’m very disappointed to say that after months of usage this product, in my opinion, is absolutely garbage and I was so excited for it too!All in all: IT IS NOT WORTH IT!
