This book really helped a lot when planning our trip to Europe. So much, I didn't know about and language information. Rick Steves has put a wealth of information together in this one book for the countries that it covers. From buying tickets to attractions and when, places to eat, and how to say the most simple phrases in the different languages helped me so much. If you are going to France, Italy, Germany, or Amsterdam this is the book for you

Book is typical of Rick Steves' guides - full of lots of good information on sights, transportation, lodging, and places to eat plus useful general travel recommendations and helpful language phrases. This book only covers a few major cities or regions in each country If you want much more detail for visits outside the cities, buy the individual country guides. Thanks to all the good information in his Italy guide, I am now retired in Italy for 6 months a year and love the small town we choose. As an official Resident of Italy (like a US green card), I can stay as long as I want, can buy a car (only Residents can own cars there) and, best of all, be covered under the excellent national health care system in Italy. Because I did not spend my working years contributing the the health care system, I must pay a small annual fee to be covered, (only $300 per month for full coverage) I would give individual country guides a 5 star rating. This overall guide just cannot hold enough information for more in depth visits to any particular country.

Rick Steves is an incredible travel writer.. Can't beat all the experience he has and he is very generous with his experiences.. very informative value..
