Excellent at a very good price.
I purchased this enclosure because my son had a similar one , but he payed £106 . Really well made no problems installing and gives super quick read and write speeds.

Signal integrity issues
The only situation where I could get this enclosure to handshake any form of thunderbolt connection was to an intel macbook, with about 25% success rate after several seconds of link training timeout spam. No luck with windows laptops (thunderbolt 3 / usb 4) or bootcamp on the macbook. The resulting speed when it did connect was hugely diminished, read speeds of 195MB/s. I tried various available firmwares for the ASM2464PD but no difference. The USB fallback mode worked fine, but given the price, power consumption and intended purpose as an eGPU link, it's a solid 1 star from me. There's a reason this enclosure is >50% cheaper than its similarly ASM2464PD-based competitors - some aspect of the circuit design, cable, and/or manufacturing is borderline

Disappointing Performance
The SSK M.2 SSD Enclosure claims to be many things, and for the price, it would not be unreasonable to expect it to be able to do these things... for example 40gbps transfer speeds... alas, not. It appears to be no better than standard USB-C, which is good enough for many a domestic application, but not what is claimed in the description. The enclosure itself feels of a good enough build quality, and this may be it's only redeeming feature, as I found it difficult to get into, and once inside, It was fiddley to install the drive. The cable provided was also a cheap affair which I replaced with a Thunderbolt certified cable, but to no avail. The transfer speeds were still no better than USB, so have to conclude that the specifications are inaccurate, and for the price, I am disappointed. I bought an enclosure last year for about half the price and it out-performs this device by a country mile and as such I can't recommend this product - there is a lot better out there, and it really does pay to shop around.

Very Happy
This was a lot less expensive than all the other equivalent offerings on Amazon and seems to be a high quality item. Also included was a rubber sleeve which will further protect the drive from physical shocks.Using this with my Mac mini m2 pro and a Samsung 880 pro is very fast-faster in fact than the internal drive.I have migrated my home folder to this drive and the machine is flying.

Constant slow write speeds
I tried this on a usb 4 x670 motherboard and razer blade thunderbolt laptop.Read speeds as to be expected but write speed as slow if not slower than 10gbs connection.Tried a t700, 980 pro and s500 pro drives and still the same thing on both devices. The s500 pro in 20gbs enclosure gave me more than twice the write speed which makes no sence.

Value for money
I did read the reviews but still bought it. Below is a piccy of the speed from a gen 3 samsung 980 and it's about full speed. The other shows the settings in device manager which should be changed to get full speed. These results were from a usb4 port. I have also tested on a 10mbit usb c port and the results were 900/852.One thing to mention, its does get real hot. I now use it for backup images

Good drive bad title
After reading the reviews I bought this as it was a fair price and I wasn't going to be too bothered if it didn't quite get the speeds that were advertised. As it says it can be used with Thunderbolt 4 and I have an add in card for that on my PC, I put in my SK Hynix Gold P31 1TB SSD PCIe NVMe Gen3 and the performance I got 1057mb/1053mb that was pretty low but I know things such as cable, processor and add in cards can reduce performance. I was going to write a mediocre review as the case is nice and has a lovely weight to it but obviously this is down to personal preferenece.I then remembered I had treated myself to a new early 2024 laptop and it had one USB4 connector on it, so I connected the enclosure with its original cable and got 3217mb/2269mb which was far more in line with what I expected to get.I then also remember I had a usb-c 3.2 port which is always in use on my pc and decided to see how fast the drive was in there and got 1440mb/1925mb which was very strange as it was faster than my Thunderbolt 4 card.I am very happy with this enclosure and give it four stars instead of 5 only due to the title, I think it is a little misleading and might be hurting the reviews on this product. This is clearly meant to be used with a USB4 connection and the backwards compaitability appears to be a fallback rather than a feature.I would take any mention of other connections out of the title and in the description make it very clear that speeds could greatly drop off if USB 4 isn't used.I might come back to this review when I buy a Thunderbolt 5 add-in card and see if that changes things.
