RS5000X Gas Shocks Set 2007-2018 for Jeep Wrangler 4WD JK

Solid replacement for stock. Looks good, rides good.

My 2018 JK (yes it’s one of the last JKs built before Jeep switched to the JL) needed new shocks. The rear shocks were both leaking and the front end would shudder when hitting bumps at highway speed. I checked with all the main auto part stores in my area and even though they were 30% more I figured get them today and support the local businesses. The problem was none of them had both front and rear in stock and quoted 3-5 business days to get them shipped to the store. Well, Amazon was 30% less and could ship them to my house in 48 hours. The shocks arrived in 2 days as promised by the seller. They were shipped FedX Vs the normal Amazon truck. The boxes they arrived in were a bit beat up (see picture) but everything in side was in perfect condition. See picture of unpacked contents. They say they fit up to 2” lift. My 2018 Rubicon Recon is stock and the new shocks fully extended length (front and back) was identical to the OEM shocks that I removed. When I purchased this vehicle at the Jeep dealer I remember him telling me the model Rubicon I have came from the factory with a lift so perhaps this is why they say fits up to a 2” lift. I only add this because these may not be long enough if you have a post factory lifted a Rubicon. The installation was pretty easy especially if you have done shocks before. Yes, the front passenger side top bolt is a pain but doable. Hint, I removed the battery and loosed all the bolts that hold the plastic battery shelf and was able to lift it enough to get an open end wrench onto the top bolt. As other users noted these shocks are beefier than the OEM shocks. They appear to be 1/2 inch larger in diameter. Others noted a stiffer ride than OEM. For my situation I noticed a much improved ride with the new shocks elimination the high speed shudder from the front end. The back end no longer skips around when hitting bumps while cornering. These were a good buy and give them 5 stars.

Fit great on 2914 Jeep JK. Only trouble on install is the front passenger side was tricky. Very little room to fit tools under the plastic compartment for the battery. Tool lots of patience on that one. Other than that had all 4 on in under 90 minutes. On initial drive thy seemed to cushion bumps in road better than the factory ones. Ride did not seem so rough. Great price as well.

I have these on my 2013 Jeep Wrangler JK 2 door. Excellent shocks with the best reputation in the industry. I would describe this as an excellent stability and off road shock but don’t expect an OEM comfort ride for city driving with this shock. Excellent stability for fast cornering and turns, but don’t don’t expect soft dampening of small pot holes and other uneven road surfaces with this shock. You will feel the bumps and vibration. Otherwise excellent shock if you don’t care about a Cadillac style ride which is not what a Jeep Wrangler is for anyway. However, my next shocks will be Rancho RS9000 with adjustable valves to control absorption in any environment.

They're Rancho RS5000X Gas Shocks - what more can I say ;-) Anyways, they fit like they should, work great for my Wrangler JK, and look good to boot!

Super easy installation, the feeling is wonderful for my taste. It takes a lot of wobble and if you install the steering damper it feels like a spectacular jeep

Larger than bilstiens i replaced! Solid so far. Installed with minimal lifting of jeep!
