## Description

desertcart.com: FIIO K11 Compact Desktop R2R Architecture DAC and Headphone Amplifier (Black) : Electronics

Review: Ideal match for Hifiman headphones - Fiio K11 R2R in non-oversampling mode pairs beautifully with my Hifiman Ananda Stealth. Deep insight and nuance, especially in midrange. Vocals are particularly rich. Ananda's hot treble is tamed but detail remains. Bass is full and resonant but less tight, but maybe that's actually more accurate. Everything just seems more "there". Smooth. By contrast, the oversampling mode (OS) has a more precise and organized presentation, but sounds a bit managed with everything relegated to its separate place, as opposed to NOS where instruments and vocals seem to pleasantly interact and blend, while remaining distinct. Each have their own strengths, though I prefer NOS. Admittedly the treble detail it lessened and the bass is looser, but vocals reveal fascinating depth and personality. Previous dac was KA15 dongle, which was very good and offered a 10 band eq plus filter options to play with. But with the K11 R2R I don't feel the need for any adjustments. Kinda perfect as is. I guess there's a reason that Hifiman's own dacs are all R2R. I also own dt770 pro, Grado 325x and Philips Fidelio 3. All are good with the K11 R2R, but the Anandas really shine. Highly recommended.
Review: Great sound staging and clarity for a DAC in this price range - There are a wide range of opinions out there about the sound quality of this DAC. I'm firmly in the "sounds excellent" camp, for DACs in this price range. Remember - this is an entry level DAC, not $5000 R2R DAC. It should be compared to other DACs in its price range, not to R2R DACs in general. That said, it has plenty of "R2R-ness" in how it sounds. The sound staging is excellent, about as good as you can get with headphones. The accuracy and precision is high enough that crappy recordings are nearly unbearable to listen to, as they should be. I played in orchestras and big bands and I'm always listening for inner parts - that third horn bit in this piece or the bass trombone part - and that's all there. I've gone back and forth on NOS versus oversampling, and find that just like on every other DAC I have, it depends which sounds best from album to album. I'm running it with a wifi Raspberry Pi supplying signal via USB. I have noticed that choosing the right sensitivity for the headphones used matters a LOT in sound quality, and I listen through everything from custom in-ears through some really nasty and hard to drive planar headphones. This DAC doesn't do a wonderful job on the two hardest to drive headphones, but is perfect for everything else as long as I pay attention to selecting the right sensitivity. But that means that each time I use a different headphone, I have to deal with that single knob interface. I find the single knob interface to be annoying and fussy like every other similar implementation out there... would a couple of selector buttons really kill the value proposition??? Overall, happy with performance, sound quality. Fun to listen through. You'd be hard pressed to match the sound quality anywhere near this price

## Features

- Fully-Differential 24-Bit R2R DAC Array - FiiO has featured its newly developed four-channel fully differential 24-bit R2R resistor array on the K11 R2R. It consists of 48 resistors per channel, a total of 192 high-precision ultra-thin film resistors with 0.1% accuracy and low-temperature drift between the four channels. It promises clean and crisp output with dark background thanks to the specially developed audio circuit architecture.
- NOS/OS Dual Operating Modes - FiiO K11 R2R has NOS(Non-Oversampling) and OS(Oversampling) dual operating modes. These are freely switchable and offer dual sound characteristics with the device. The NOS mode maintains the original sampling rate while signal processing while the OS mode oversamples all the signals to 384kHz for processing. NOS mode results in more musical presentation while the OS mode delivers more details and clarity.
- Powerful Amp Section - FiiO has equipped the K11 R2R with professionally designed amp circuitry. It consists of Ti OPA1642 as Low-Pass filters and then dual SGM8262 Professional-grade operational amplifiers. The K11 R2R has an output power rating of up to 1300mWx2, which is adequate enough to drive demanding headphones with ease. It has three-level gain modes for easy pairing with sensitive as well as high-power requiring gear. The K11 R2R also adopts NJW1195A precise digital volume chipset for precise volume adjustment with low distortion between the channels.
- Dual Headphone Output Ports - FiiO K11 R2R houses dual headphone output ports. It consists of a single-ended 6.35mm port and a balanced 4.4mm output port. You can easily pair different IEMs and headphones with the K11 R2R and enjoy high-resolution music to all its glory.
- True High-Resolution Audio Signal Processing - FiiO K11 R2R supports decoding for high-resolution audio signals. It has full support for PCM and DSD signal processing supporting up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256 audio signals. DSD256 requires the DSD output mode to be set to native. It is internally converted into PCM for R2R signal processing.
- Professionally Designed Low-Noise Power Supply - FiiO K11 R2R features a professionally designed low-noise power supply. It consists of 17 Low-Noise LDO precision voltage regulator ICs and 2 DC-DCs providing a multi-channel power supply. It further benefits from the external 12V power supply ensuring a clean output with low noise and distortion issues. K11 R2R delivers quality sound for its users.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sweet and Smooth like the Moon.
*by O***N on October 11, 2025*

This is my first real audiophile grade DAC and on day 1, I remember hearing the K11 R2R for the first time. The difference a dedicated DAC makes versus my phone DAC Dongles or previously, my Astro A40TR DAC I used for music & gaming was completely a night and day difference. I heard no static, no hiss, simply organic lossless music for the first time ever. It was beautiful like moon on a clear night sky. It was fun going through all my genres of music and favorite songs, like I was listening to them all over again for the first time. I have the DAC Set to 24-Bit 48.1Khz / DSD: 1-Bit (Which can only be achieved on the latest firmware that you have to manually install yourself.) Everything feels smooth, with a touch of warmness and clarity. Currently listening these IEM's: The AFUL Performer 5+2 & SIMGOT Supermix 4 / while using Low Gain Mode at ~45-55% Volume which is my personal sweet spot for listening on these IEMs. CONS: -My only cons with this is turning off the DAC requires you to hold the control knob down for (5) Seconds every time you want to power it off. It's not a big deal, but something to note. -No onboard EQ Functions. Not a deal breaker (software adjustments are just fine). Other FiiO Models like the K13 R2R have those more premium settings, but would have been nice to have at least on the R2R Version of the K11. -Stock Rubber Feet aren't very strong. DAC slides around a lot when pressing the 1-Button Knob. You have to order replacement rubber feet. THE VERDICT: In conclusion, for the price, you get a very nice small and compact Desktop DAC that looks elegant and from what I've heard competes with some much higher end DACs / R2R's at a fraction of the price. This is the budget king of DACs.
