Solgar Melatonin 10 mg Clinically Studied Ingredient, Helps Promote Relaxation & Sleep, Suitable for Vegans, 60 Tablets

I've tried different doses and different brands of melatonin and found this brand and dosage worked the best for me. Melatonin alone doesn't help me sleep, but when I mix it with 1400+/- mg Chamomille with Apigen it helps. (Neither alone works for me well, but together they help me fall asleep) It takes about an hour to kick in. The pills are small and flavorless. (But can get chalky if you wait to swallow.) I used to take ibuprofen pm with chamomile tea but I can't use that combination anymore. After trying several different brands and combinations I've been sticking with this one for about a year now. You might need to give it a week before you judge how it works, I noticed a difference when I had to stop and start again because I ran out during a trip out of town and it took a few days for me to see the same effect after the break. Melatonin affects my daughter and I differently, what works for one person might not work for another. I do not feel groggy the next day after using this and that's a huge benefit. I usually take this around 10pm so I can be tired by 11:30 pm. (Tip: if you must have the TV on to distract you, put on something boring!)

I like Solgar brand supplements. Upon doing my research I believe this company makes great supplements for a fair price. I buy several different Solgar supplements on a regular basis and I don’t have any negative experiences to complain about with them. These melatonin tablets I’d describe as tasteless and dissolve into chalk-like powder rapidly once you put one in your mouth (have your water ready). Because they’re tasteless, the powder it quickly becomes really isn’t of any significance for me, and I’ll just swig it down with water. Honestly, I’m not sure if they work any better of worse than some other top brands, but I take them for more than just a sleep-aid as they have other health benefits. I’ve been thru many different brands and this is the one I’ve gone to for a few years now.

It seems to work very well for me and I like the fact that its not a gelatin capsule. Solgar is brand I have used many times before and I love that it comes in glass bottles rather than plastic.

Works great! Years ago someone recommended that I try melatonin to help me sleep. It never worked on me. I don't know if I took too low of dosage or if it was the product back then. I've recently tried this new brand at 10 mg and it works great! Side note: Apparently, melatonin is known for producing nightmares. It's true. The first several times I took it, I did have some crazy nightmares. I don't get them now and, frankly, I'm a little disappointed. I kind of looked for to the nightmares. It's the only excitement I get in my life now days.

I have been a melatonin user for several years. As with many people melatonin for me is a mix of positive and negative values. On the plus side it helps many me fall asleep naturally using the same chemical the body itself produces to cause sleep. So in an ideal world you should feel comfortable that you're not taking drugs that could have adverse effects. But unfortunately many people DO suffer from "melatonin hangover", an unpleasant feeling the morning after taking melatonin. I've cut way back on taking melatonin. It seems after taking for a while I need to take smaller doses to get the same effect. So I went from 5mg tablets to 3mg and then to cutting a 5mg tablet in half to reduce the dose to 2-1/2 mg. Taking any larger dose doesn't help me fall asleep any faster or sleep any better. So what about these? They are a whopping 10mg!! I took one last night to try it and I think my body entered a state of rigor mortis for 10 hours. I could have slept through armageddon. I reread the seller's product description and I don't believe this product was intended for nightly use. The suggested uses are for situations like extreme jet lag and other times when your brain and body are out of kilter with each other and neither are synced to the real time zone you are in ... and you absolutely have to force yourself to sleep to get back on the same schedule everyone else is on. For situations like that these can be a lifesaver. I question, though, the practicality of buying a bottle of 60 tablets. Unless you are a rock star or a diplomat your schedule probably won't necessitate having such a large quantity on hand. And melatonin definitely has a useful shelf life so I would suggest that the seller reduce the quantity to 30 tablets and perhaps consider changing the packaging to individual foil-wrapped single doses. While this product features melatonin as the only active ingredient, the bottle label also lists the following ingredients: Dicalcium Phosphate, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Vegetable Cellulose, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Silica, Vegetable Magnesium Stearate Otherwise I'm fine with this product. It does what it advertises and is reasonably priced. Everything else about it is in a par with the rest of their competitors.
