New Rechargeable Battery A1574/A1641 Compatible iPod Touch 5th 6th 7th 020-00425 with Tools

The first battery I received would not charge. It fit perfectly and looks identical to the original. I tried it in two 6th generation iPod Touch. It wouldn’t charge in either one. Update: I initiated a return with Amazon and was sent a replacement in just a few days. I didn't have to return the battery since it was a defective lithium battery. I installed the new battery and it works perfectly, as good or better than the original iPod battery when it was new. I listened to my music through ear buds with Bluetooth on and WiFi off yesterday for 4 hours and the battery still had a 78% charge when done. It charges to 100% every time. I would recommend this battery to anyone who fully understands how to perform the replacement. You have to be very careful when opening the iPod and put no pressure on the face. You can easily crack the digitizer and not the front glass.

Replacement works fine, easy to solder, there is a ifixit guide you can follow. Also many youtube videos on how to replace the iPod touch battery. I use it for music in the car. 🙌

Battery fits and works as advertised. If you have no experience working with electronics, I strongly suggest you bring your iPod to someone who can do the installation. The installation requires removing of solder and soldering the terminals on back on (solder and soldering iron not included), removing and installing over a dozen micor screws, carefully prying open the case without damaging it, and removing protective tape which is likely to be damaged in the process and replacement is not included. The tools provided are barely adequate. I used small screwdriver no included which do not have as much magnetic pull to reinstall the screws. If you do try this, watch a few YouTube videos. One of the YouTube videos suggested using a small heat gun to begin prying the case open. This helped a lot, but don't overdo the heat, or you'll damage the plastic. I have a full set of electronic tools and soldering equipment, so I successfully completed the job, but it is a bit sloppier inside after I finished it. Took me about one half hour to complete once I assembled all the tools and a mat to work on so the screws did not fly away.

So far good! I was able to solder the replacement without issues. Mine got bloated and needed to be replaced.

Bought two of these for generation 5 and generation 6 iPod Touch. One battery worked great and the other one was dead. I reported it and a replacement was sent immediately. These older iPods are now working great. I am very happy with the renewed life these batteries brought to my devices.

Our IPod battery started swelling so this was the replacement. It’s a tedious installation, but not horrible. All the tools are provided and it works great. I am pissed the IPod was discontinued because we use it for our music, I’m sure Apple will brick it soon, but I’m going to try to stretch its life w this battery.

Great battery and set of tools. If you are not adept at soldering small components or confident in your ability to disassemble the iPod itself then I recommend leaving this to a professional. I was able to get the battery installed and working but not without some frustration and having to re-solder the connector three times to get it right.
