You can however skip tracks. I use these earbuds with two different android devices and I have never had a problem. I do carry my phone in my pocket and walk around my house/work with the headset on. If I leave my phone on my desk or on a shelf, I can walk anywhere within my office/room (10' x 15'). If I am more than 25-30 feet away from my phone the sound begins to break up. So I can't go very far outside of the office/room and still hear the music, and closing the door behind me as I leave the office/room decreases that distance substantially. So the answer to your "line of site" question is probably, yes they will cut out. Overall, I'd not recommend these earphone for any rigorous exercise. They would be fine for walking or normal daily activity. I don't think that Jabra intended them for exercise (or sports). Jabra has a number of headsets for exercise. You might check their website for details. Generally, I've found the prices to be much lower on Amazon, but the product details better explained on the Jabra website. Hopefully this is helpful. You can also hold down the button until the blue light flashes and the red light turns on and then off again.
