As I Am - The

Alicia Keys is really showing what a great musician and song writer she is on this new cd As I Am. Her voice has so much depth and I absolutely love the song Another Way To Die which she does with Jack White who's music I really enjoy too. There is a wide range of different music styles and arrangements on this ablum which is amazing. As I Am comes with a nice bonus dvd on what is truly an outstanding ablum and I highly recommend it

I was disappointed when I bought Alicia's first debut 'Songs in A Minor' I loved the single 'Fallen' but the rest of the album was too R&B for my taste. So I do admit I shied away from her work since. Then I watched an episode of the hit show 'Medium' with Patricia Arquette and the song 'The Thing About Love' was played in a emotional episode and I immediately loved it and came on Amazon to purchase the record. This album showed Alicia's maturity and growth as an artist and many of the songs have something her past albums never had and that was life and experience. I also have come to respect Alicia for being a star who decided she didn't want to be the musical industry's puppet, refusing to wear sexual clothing and heavy make up, and wanting to be a role model to younger girls and wanting to make her voice and music be the focus. She presented the Grammy's and her positiveness and promotion towards her fellow artists is so good to hear and watch, no tearing people down and laughing at anyone. What an inspiration she is

Great cd! Soon as it arrived I ripped it open and played it! Fantastic!

I love this album, her superb voice makes my spine tingle but what is the recording company playing at? I put the recording into my iTunes library, perfectly legal as far as I can work out, but it sounds like scratchy old vinyl in places spoiling and detracting from the enjoyment of the music. I thought maybe the problem lay in the CD ROM drive of the PC so I tried the disc in my new Denon hi-fi with exactly the same result, the disc content is great but the sound quality is useless. Has anyone else experienced this? I checked out a review of a Madonna CD and the reviewer reported much the same thing.

One of the greatest female artist of our time and again she has not disappointed. Smooth sounds and wicked tracks. A must have to add to your collection.

Grammy winning singer/songwriter, poet, philanthropist and visionary Alicia Keys proceeds to outdo herself with AS I AM, her third and finest album, to date. This 2007 release showcases her range as a musician. Keys is a classically-trained pianist, as well as being a true soul/r&b artist, and the album kicks off on a beautiful note with her original song "As I Am (Intro)," a classical piece. From there, we hear the influences and inspirations that guide this great musician to combine her poetry and eloquence as a lyricist with her flare for hooks and ear-catching instrumental (with a little help from her friends). Some of the best cuts include "Superwoman," (co-written with Linda Perry and Steve Mostyn), an anthem for strong women everywhere and an ear-catching chorus that will get you singing along, the beautiful, reggae-inspired "No One" (co-written with Kerry Brothers, Jr. and George M. Harry), the first single from the album and "Wreckless Love" (co-written with Matthew Kahane and Harold Lilly) which sounds like a throwback to the Motown soul era of the 1960s. On another note, Alicia Keys' voice has never sounded better. It's deeper and raspier, but, that only adds flavor to her delivery of the more poignant pieces (particularly, "Tell You Something (Nana's Reprise)"). This young woman has been blessed with many talents and we are lucky and privileged that she is sharing them with the world.
