How far can they stretch safely?

In my May 6, 2022 review I wrote: I'm not sure what the maximum safe extension is, but I'd be very reluctant to double the length of any section of any band (e.g., standing on the loop for an assisted pull-up, or double-looping a lighter band to shorten and tighten it up.)

are these good for hamstring curls?

I would say this is a good set overall to have because it has different resistance strength levels you can choose from. For the types of exercises you are talking about you might want to use the higher resistance- red color. Another band I have used is the SPRI super heavy band but it is only a single band. Not sure how hard of resistance you are looking for and the set might be a better option. Hope this helps
