Review: The best MP3 player I have owned - the sound quality is stunning - Having had several MP3 players in the past from the past ranging from Phillips to Creative, I decided to upgrade to the latest I-Pod for the appeal of the large storage size since my last 60 gb player was starting to run out of space. The 160gb model seemed like a natural choice to go for, and I am so glad I did. I use I-Tunes for my music library, and the first thing of note is the simplicity and ease of use when you first get the I-Pod out of the box. You literally just plug it in to your computer, and I-Tunes automatically synchronizes the tracks and puts them on to the I-Pod. The charge time is quick, around four hours for a complete charge, and the duration of the battery life is fantastic. I didn't quite manage the 36 hours of battery life that it is claimed to have before a recharge is required - I managed just over 32 hours and was perfectly happy with that The main thing, and perhaps the most surprising thing about the I-Pod that I love is the exceptionally crisp sound quality, and it is noticeably better in comparison to previous MP3 players I have owned in the past, even when headphones have been kept constant. I know that the I-Pod has been a market leader for some time and now I can hear why. There have been several claims that he volume setting on the I-Pod is too low - something that I didn't notice at all. I listen to a lot of film scores/classical music which is often recorded at lower levels in comparison to other types of music meaning that the volume should need to be higher to be able to hear it properly. I found on the highest volume setting I was wanting to turn the volume down, and so I would imagine in other genres of music that the max volume level would be more than sufficient for a great listening experience. Of course, it can also be used for photos, videos and a limited number of games, all of which look great and play well, although I was less bothered about these functions. Overall, I wish I had upgraded to the 6th gen classic I-Pod sooner. Whilst I originally upgraded because of the additional storage space, the increase in sound quality was a really pleasant surprise. There have been issues regarding volume limits on the I-Pod, but I found that playing music at the loudest volume setting was more than I needed. The quick recharge time and ease of synchronization with the music on my computer is a bonus, and having owned several MP3 players before this, I can easily say this I-Pod Classic the best.
Review: Great product! - Read a lot of reviews before buying and noticed that people were worried about the sound level. Naturally I was a bit apprehensive. But I can't find any fault with the sound of the one that I got - it is clear and crisp and so strong I never turn it to more than a half of volume. I also never had a problem with ipod's compatibility with my computer. In general very happy with the product. This is my third IPod and the main reason to buy this one was capacity. I ran out of space on my 16Gb nano. The classic 160 is stylish and very solid feeling, nice to handle. The wheel is very pleasant and sensitive. There is a slight drawback of this model which one can only notice if one used later versions - the screen resolution is not as fine as in the latest nano and of course far from the touch screen, the quality of the picture is just not as good. But I can live with it. Great product. Love it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Hi, does this have the 30 pin connector? Thanks Mike**
A: Yes it does Mike.

**Q: Can you put your own cds of your own computer yes or no**
A: You can but you will need to sync the iPod with it first. This will replace anything on it already. Best to copy the CDs you want onto your computer and then sync with iPod. I have about 300 CDs copied onto what I am selling.

**Q: Can you get spotify on the classic, and does it accept a normal headphones jack or do you need special apple earphones? thanks**
A: Can’t get Spotify but uses normal jack so you can use any head phones or portable speakers

**Q: does it come with Earphones/USB 2.0 cable/Dock adapter/Quick Start guide**
A: Yep

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Deep Space
*by G***S on 8 July 2013*

I've had a 60GB iPod Video (as they were then known) for some years and it became full with 10,546 tracks due to some duplication , though they still played okay. My wife suggested I investigate a replacement. I was amazed to find the Classic version was available with a 160GB hard drive, and at a lower price at Amazon than through John Lewis or Apple Store (though it's gone up in price since I received it -grab bargains when you can, it seems). It was not difficult to decide whether to order or not. In fact, the product arrived slightly before the estimated delivery date, and within the original estimated window. As the postman knocked on the door bearing gifts on a Friday, Saturday morning saw me opening the package (should have looked for the 'no-fuss' option as the Amazon box was full of polystyrene chips - there goes the environment). The Classic has the same footprint as the Video, yet is markedly slimmer. The chunky plastic front of the Video has been replaced by an anodised aluminium one that tapers smoothly into the stainless steel back cover in an attractive and ergonomic style. The scroll wheel and button (part of a 'classic' design) seem more positive in operation and the screen is very clear. My first action was to drag-and-drop two Rolling Stones CDs of BBC radio recordings from the 1960s into the Classic, a quick and easy task in the latest version of iTunes. Then the proof of the pudding, an ear test. Wonderful, clear, crisp music that seemed an improvement on previous sounds on the Video. This may be a feature of the improved hardware or better 'importing' with the revised iTunes, but pleasing nevertheless. I'm in the process of importing all our CDs into iTunes, planning that they will all go into the Classic - note that, as with other memory devices, the quoted size is somewhat larger than that seen by the PC: 160GB is displayed as 148GB (probably plenty for our music collection). I'd give five stars but for the fact the iPod comes with pretty useless ear buds and docking adaptors that are impossible to see how to use. I've recycled all mine in the bin and use an Apple dock that charges the iPod and connects into a Teac mini stereo system to play as I work on the PC. However, whatever the Apple failings, Amazon delivered to its usual standard and surprised me with an email telling me I had an automatic one-pound voucher against my first MP3 download. This has allowed me to fill some gaps in my music library very easily and quickly, and at attractive prices. The days of buying plastic discs seem long gone; just a couple of mouse clicks and the albums are flowing into iTunes. I've set the iPod to manage manually, but the real proof will be to sync when I've put all our CDs into iTunes and see how they go into the Classic. Based on current experience, I'm looking forward to it. Yes, it seems odd to buy a proven product and add accessories to improve its performance, but that's engineers for you. So far I'd recommend the Classic to anyone - the anodised finish should be harder wearing than its plastic predecessor, plus it matches the Teac stereo. As I bought the device to store and play music, I doubt that many of the improved features will be put to use (it's like a small computer or PDA). My Video is going to my wife, though she'll need a sound dock (Amazon website here we come). Strangely, charging docks with mains power and linking to stereo systems seem to be unavailable now; the world seems to have gone to sound docks while my back was turned - shame, it's a great way to listen to the iPod. Update: I've imported all our CD collection into the latest version of iTunes ( three-and-a-half weeks from receiving the Classic), tidied many duplicated tracks and plugged the Classic into the PC to delete the two Stones albums and run a sync process. First time round it seemed slow and only put 131 tracks in, but I was backing My Music onto a 1TB Seagate external hard drive (also from Amazon) at the same time. I restored the Classic to factory settings, a quick and simple task, the plugged it in to sync while we had supper and watched TV for the evening. Several hours later, voila, sync complete; 15,143 songs installed, with 39.1GB free space left. All our albums are now in the iPod at the latest high rate for better clarity. Oh, yes, definitely a worthwhile upgrade that sounds as good as it looks. Even better than my initial experience has been to add more music from downloads and CDs to bring the current total to 16,488 tracks, yet still over 32GB free space. A miracle of storage engineering that the friend who first introduced me to iPod technology admired and said the human interface was so good it would be foolish to change it ('classic design,'in his words). Happy? You bet . . .
