Then I turned it up, and it got louder and louder. This thing really thumped! I was amazed, and cranked it up to see how loud it would go, and it got louder than I can handle. Made my wife come out of the house to see what was going on. Plenty of sound for when you are on the water with wind and engine noise. NICE! Turned on the bluetooth of my phone, linked them together, and BOOM, now I had my music playing. I have to say, I can't comment on it's longevity, but It worked great for the days I had it before the boat sold. New owner LOVED the stereo, had it playing for the whole test ride. I'm sure that helped sell the boat. If you have a smart phone and access to tunes on it, then buy a JBL clip. It is a waterproof speaker that has great battery life and a good sound.
