Quite a challenging but satisfying build. Only 1 small part broke and it had a spare, as did lots of other parts. The car winds up and moves but the wind up mechanism is not very big and 5 winds is all it can handle, meaning the car does not travel fast or far. Then again, the car is more for show than a kid's toy.

What a neat little model! The parts, although some a bit fragile, separate easily and assemble accurately. Once the drive train is correctly assembled (and lubed with a bit of airsoft silicone oil) this car runs FAST. The spring drive and an inertial flywheel gearbox are pre-made, so the usual wooden clockwork is eliminated. I found that "snapping" the driver's helmet back sharply was key in making this thing fly. The flywheel is braked by a rubber extension of the actuating rod ... if the drive is not engaged fully the rod's "brake" can drag on the flywheel. Get this right and this really goes fast. The steering hold spring is too weak .. add a small leftover rubber band from another model. The body detail is lovely for this scale, and the driver's helmet/start switch is very cool. 5 winds may not seem much, but that flywheel drive is pure genius. These folks have upped the game!

I ordered two of these cars as Christmas gifts for my kids. At 8yo and 11yo, they're not the recommended 14+, but they're experienced enough in building things that I figured they would enjoy the project and get a working result they were proud of with a little help from my husband and me. My 8yo dove into this project at the first opportunity and happily spent most of his free time putting it together. He did need help at times, which I provided. He made some mistakes that were ones I nearly also made in checking his steps due to instructions being less clear than ideal. You do need to study the instructions and make sure you understand what they want you to do rather than doing the quick glance I expect many of us are more familiar with. The way they showed alignment for several steps messed with my head. In any case, he got it together with my occasional help, and it worked right away. It's not fast at all. I'm not sure if this was due to design so that it wouldn't smash itself or some factor of how he built it. I'm really looking forward to when my 11yo builds his to see if they turn out different for speed. In any case, the pieces and overall design feel and look like quality. It's a very cool project. We're just not sure if it's meant to be faster.

I bought this for my 15 year old Granson. I wanted to get him something that would challenge him as well as have a cool keepsake. He already loves cars so I was hoping he would like doing this. It was a great challenge and provided him with a great sense of accomplishment. I would definitely recommend.

I like the look and design of the race car. A lot of the pieces are very thin and fragile but ROKR make up for it by having duplicate pieces for all these parts. The rubber around the tires are a perfect addition for mobility of the car!!👍👍
