Where’s the Bhut Jolokia? A Mild and Underwhelming Pork Pickle
I recently tried the Boneless Pork Pickle with Bhut Jolokia from the North East, and overall, I was quite disappointed with the flavour profile. Despite being labeled as Bhut Jolokia, I couldn’t feel the signature heat or smokiness that the chilli is known for. The pickle wasn’t peppery enough, and the overall taste felt muted and underwhelming. For a product that highlights one of the world’s hottest chilies, I expected a bold kick and a richer, more distinctive flavor. Unfortunately, it didn’t deliver on that promise. The pork pieces were fine, but the pickle lacked depth and intensity. Hoping the brand improves the spice level and authenticity in future batches.
