Without naming it, and since the study of this product says it's the EDTA that is the active ingredient it's obvious that any product with EDTA should be just as effective. If there's some other "molecule" it needs to be named. **Q: How soon will you see the plaque built-up being removed from your teeth? A few weeks, months?** A: If you have any tartar buildup (hardened plaque) above or below the gumline you will have to get a professional cleaning done by a dental hygienist. Toothpaste will not remove it. If it's just regular plaque it will be easily removed with proper brushing and flossing no matter what toothpaste you use. This particular one is formulated differently to help prevent buildup because it prevents the plaque from adhering to the tooth surface. I learned about it at a conference about gum disease. If you have gum disease, it's a great paste to use. My teeth feel very clean afterward, but I haven't used it consistently because I don't like the gel.
