Needing either steel rod/bar at least 36"L, 0.75(3/4)" diameter/thickness, 1/8" thick (if bar), I can always use metal file..can this work you think?

1018 is a good all around material can be machined, welded and be case hardened. Just be sure you order the right shape. You can file it with no problems, other than sore arms if you have a lot of material to remove. Gary
