I already owned a soldering kit, flux, and a heat gun so extra costs there either. The heat gun was the MVP since I used it to desolder the existing joystick and pop the other one in (after using flux and adding some of my own solder to lower the required temp). Only gotcha I ran into is one of the joysticks was just oh so slightly crooked since it wasn't perfectly flush with the board when I installed it. Had to hit it with the heat gun, applied some pressure, and it's all good now. After calibration, I was shocked by how much lower the average error was in comparison to my default sticks. Maybe I just got a lucky batch? I don't have much time with these joysticks, but I'm hoping they last and nothing goes haywire. If anything goes wrong, I'll update this post, but for now... no news is good news.
