    Alright

I have read this book multiples of time each at different ages. I used to love this book as it reminded me of my all time favourite series. Now that my love of Harry Potter has drifted away a little, i've began to find this book alot more boring, and I have to put in to much effort to enjoy it. A book shouldn't be like that though; it should draw you in from the first chapter and make you sit on the edge of your seat in awe / amazment.Another reason why I found this booking boring is Katrina used the word / conjunction 'and' far to much - eg, Molly wore a long black skirt and a bronze crop top and had her long blond hair tied up in a high pony tail. Obviously, this is just an example but this is mostly what Katrina's description sounds like. Does she not know any better conjuctions and has she never heard of a semi collon (;).One big annoying asspect of the book (which I find very popular in most of the book I have read by Katrina) is most of the characters have blond hair. Does she have a dislike towards none blond haired people? The age rating for this series is 9-11. Stick to it, im 12 and this book board me out of my mind. Even though it was an alright way to pass the time, I defiantly won't be buying any more book in this series.SpoilerCharlotte is a Witch - like her mother but her father is an ordinary. A human without the power to cast spells / brew potions. Aka a muggle. She joins a school for witches and makes new friends along her journey through school, but also makes an enimie in the proses. What will happen when Charlotte tells the truth about Margaret?Don't get put of by my negative review. This book might be for you.Perfect for younger fans of Harry Potter. If you're older then why not check out one of Katrina's novels suitable for teens. eg - Slave to a Vampire, Angel, My brother is an outcast

Hi, first off, because this may be for younger kids, I'm an almost 11 year old girl and an avid reader. This story (if you can call it one) begins with a young girl, Charlotte, discovering she is a witch and being sent off to a school where pupils are taught magic. There, she is introduced to the witching world, makes a couple of friends and... not friends. The characters are all alike and one dimensional, Charlotte's two new friends being awkward and slightly stupid. The 'enemy' , a girl named Demi and her sidekick Margaret (or vice versa) is about as dull and lifeless as a dead pigeon you see foating in the Thames on a rainy Thursday morning. She has no justifiable excuse to hate Charlotte and her motive for luring Charlotte into the library are questionable. Charlotte's mother is the worst of them all, not even bothering to properly explain what is going on to her perplexed daughter, other than you're a witch, your're getting deported to a boarding school miles away now. She does nothing to comfort Charlotte when she is obviously terrified and unprepared other than giving her a quick hug (I belive) and saying "you'll be fine" before promptly disappearing. Wow, nothing like leaving your daughter stranded in the middle of nowhere with no idea what to do. Talk about parenting 101!lets talk about the party guests in chapter 1. I understand tey are simply there for driving the delicate plot, but why do the little boy's parents not question the fact that some random lady brought their son back to life and how she arrived before the ambulance when nobody called her at all. The characters are all plain, plain, plain.Furthermore, the stock photos placed at every few pages do not help to differentiate between them as the girls not only act but look the same. The author's vocabulary is quite restricted, and the book is repetitive and monotonous. Maybe use a thesaurus next time! Besides, the amount of missing punctuation and bad grammar genuinely scared me. I found myself skipping over pages at a time becuse of how impossible the sentences were to read, and even then the story was boring. You may be wondering why i have left such a low rating when the book is free. Surely I could cut it some slack fot that, right? And that is because... Its unfinished! It ends abruptly, not even on a cliffhanger, because it stops just about the time the plot risks unfolding. To find out what happens next, you need to buy the other books. Yes, there are 6 more.Honestly, you'd be better off buying Harry Potter, or for a simpler read, the classic Worst Witch books, or Amelia fang for a Halloweeny vibe.Anyway, I'm off to eat my cobweb quesadillas.xx

My daughter fell in love with this book and the series

This is the book which ultimately cost me £7.99 in a Kindle unlimited month subscription, just so that my 10-year-old daughter could read the entire set! She has been been totally enthralled and engrossed by this book and the entire series since then.Any author who can encourage a child to read voracious amounts of quality literature gets my vote. Whilst our children are in lockdown and the temptations of electronics are calling, I welcome any well written and engaging fiction books. When I was a little girl, in a world without mobile phones or internet, I read the entire mobile library. I suspect that my daughter will read the entire Kindle catalogue from this author now, so that level of engagement is seriously impressive!
