It's a thermos.
Thermos coffee cups are always good. I've had several over many years and have always been happy with my purchas.

Great size, weight, balance
Great simple light-weight mug for keeping coffee hot/warm for a good half-hour at my desk. Like it more than ones with tops that must be screwed on, though those have better insulation. It does come with a plastic lid that can be placed on top to extend heat retention to an hour or so. Happy to find a quality insulated cup that looks like a regular mug....

I wish I had returned this early on. This is how it looks after four months. The chipping began almost immediately. I'm very disappointed.

Fantastic mug that keeps heat in for a long time. Just a heads up that while it's a large mug in Japan, but is actually a regular-sized mug in Australia. They just make things smaller (and cuter) over there.
