Surprisingly good budget TV model
I bought this TV for the spare bedroom for when guests may stay and want to watch their own shows, rather than our preferred options on the main home TV set. The presence of the UK Freely app on the Toshiba model is a big bonus for us because we have no antenna connection point in the spare bedroom and the only way for anyone to be able to watch TV in there is by wi-fi. Just for clarity, the set can also tune in regular digital TV (DTV) channels that are receivable over the air with an antenna, and there is a connection port for one on the back of the cabinet. We just haven't used that particular element of the set's functionality because we don't need to. The range of channels on the UK Freely app is limited in comparison to what is otherwise available on UK Freeview digital terrestrial TV, but this hasn't proved to be an issue in our home. Setting the TV up was fairly straightforward, and it operates very well so far. The picture and sound quality are pretty good and it has a range of setting options to cover various personal viewing preferences or room conditions. The remote control also works well. The buttons are clearly labelled and operate positively. You wouldn't know to look at it, that the set was operating as a streaming device. The quality is largely indistinguishable from standard over-the-air antenna based TV. If I wanted to nit pick the Toshiba for anything, sometimes the software is a bit slow responding to commands from the remote, but that really is a nit pick. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase. The Toshiba was well-priced and, for the price paid, it is a good budget TV model, which I would wholeheartedly recommend to others.

Amazing quality for a great price.
So, my partners TV just stopped working one day and he needed a new one. This was an amazing quality TV for the price (back in summer 2025). Very vibrant colours and the gaming on it is amazing, freely is also included and works well on WiFi and Ethernet. The sound quality is amazing for films and you can set them in the settings and no lag at all.

Good picture but smart settings always in the way
Excellent picture but it's a constant battle against the in built smart features that are useless and the menu provides limited control over.

Great picture, great price
Wow wow wow. I love my telly and the freely app is the best way of viewing normal television if that's what you want. It's easy to navigate the buttons and really simple to set up with the remote as long as you have your WiFi password handy haha.. The picture is amazing and shockingly good for the price

Brilliant tv
Brilliant tv, easy to set up and connect to the internet via wifi. Light weight so easy to move around, good picture and sound. Highly recommend if like me you are on a budget, cheap good quality tv without the pricy tag but good quality picture and sound like it’s more expensive cousins.

Dreadful - steer clear!
Dreadful television. Full of adware and bloatware. It has repeatedly failed to verify after downloading a firmware update, and then keeps sending system message reminders at random times while we're watching something. Then we have to find the TV remote (we use a firestick remote normally) to dismiss the message. No way to turn off system messages! Customer support is dire - To use the "live" chat or the "email" options, they first ask for all the details of where and when it was purchased etc. Plus model number AND the serial number. The was no response to the chat window even though I waited 10 minutes. So I tried the "email" option, which is in fact an online form. After I had entered all the required information and written a detailed explanation, it rejected the form with "invalid serial number", no matter how I tried to format the number. The ID sticker on the back clearly states the serial number! I am returning the TV as not fit for purpose.

Good quality TV and well worth the money.
I wasn't disappointed. The TV is as good as or even better than I expected for the money. A little bit of fiddling to get it up and running but was expected and once set up it is brilliant. Sound could be better but picture brilliant. Delivery was good and also kept me up-to-date and phoned to tell me what time they would arrive. A very competitive price.

A Great 43″ TV My Mum Loves - Four Months of Smooth, Reliable Use
I originally bought this Toshiba 43UV2F53DBU for my mum, and after more than four months of daily use, she’s genuinely happy with it — which honestly says a lot. She wanted something simple, clear, and reliable, and this TV has been exactly that. Picture Quality: The 4K image is sharp and colourful without needing any complicated settings. My mum watches a lot of dramas and cooking shows, and the picture always looks bright and clean. HDR10 gives it a nice lift without making everything look artificial. Ease of Use: This is the biggest win. The interface is straightforward, the remote layout is simple, and switching between apps is fast enough that she never gets confused or stuck. The Freely feature also means she can watch live channels over WiFi without needing an aerial — which has been super convenient. Streaming & Apps: Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video… everything loads smoothly. No freezing or random restarts even after long watching sessions. She literally just presses the app she wants and it works every time. Sound: Clear voices and decent overall volume. My mum doesn’t need a soundbar — the built-in speakers have been good enough for everyday watching. Reliability After Months: No issues. No panel problems, no software glitches. It starts quickly every time, and the performance hasn’t slowed down at all. For a TV in this price range, that’s impressive long-term behaviour. Its also very light weight. Final Thoughts: If you want a 43″ TV that’s easy for anyone in the family to use, has a crisp 4K picture, and stays reliable even after months of daily use, this Toshiba is an excellent choice. My mum loves it, and I’d happily buy it again.
