AOFAR 700 Range Finder for shooting
Love this AOFAR 700 range finder. Perfect for 12ft/lb air rifle pest control. Nice and light to carry in the supplied case with a carabiner supplied so it can be clipped onto the gun slip or your trouser belt loop. It has a neck cord too. Very simple to use with clear LCD display and instant readings at the touch of a button. Really like the camo colours. The range it covers is more than enough for dealing with rabbits and other pests and it helps with zeroing in the rifle’s scope at 40 yards. Would be perfect for using on distances where a more powerful rifle is used. Highly recommended for a roaming shooter or when sat up in a hide as it helps to gauge hold over and hold under once you know how far away the quarry is. I use this range finder every time I go out rabbit shooting and wouldn’t be without one now. Excellent build quality and easy to use and it comes with a CR2 camera battery. Excellent value for the price compared with other brands you typically find in gun shops.

Great for the price
Good quality and easy to use, lens is nice and clear with a good field of view. Not sure on battery life, but I suspect it doesn’t use a huge amount of power. Nice presentation box with simple instructions. Comes with pouch and lanyard, which is really useful.

It does the job
I purchased to accompany my PCP air gun so max distance I’ve used it at is 60 yards. The range finder is really accurate at these distances and really helps gauge hold over/under. If you’re after a cheap and cheery range finder this does the job well. Glass could be clearer but the weight and battery life makes it a great tool to have

Change of mind. Decent piece of kit.
I ordered this rangefinder with some reservations with regards to its accuracy etc because of it having a relatively low cost. I think on the whole my reservations were borne out. The accuracy from source to target varies from one reading to the next, that is to say if I take a range reading and do it again to confirm, it will have changed. The button for taking the range reading can be difficult to depress and can affect the reading. The mode button however is good and positive. You get what you pay for, but still a pity as the construction is solid. Would not buy or recommend again. After using this range finder for a time I think I should change my review. It is better than I at first reviewed it and after a bit of use, I have become used to its eye relief which I think was the problem in the first place. Once I got used to using it I have found it very good and also very accurate. So well worth its money and would now recommend.

Good unit for basic range finding.
Works well as a rangefinder - I have not used the speed function. It's basic, simple to use with no extras like pin lock, which suits me as I use this with my pcp rifle and I found it accurate once I got used to the buttons. Optics are good and the display is clear and easy to read (I do wear specs). I can't compare this as it's my 1st - there are quite a few competing units at around half the cost of this one but buyer beware.

Easy to use
Nice feel to, simple functionality, works right out the box and the range has been tested several times and if anything it will be out by a couple of yards but is realible and definitely worth the money

For the money this is a good piece of kit.
For the money this is a really useful piece of kit, admittedly it does not have all the features of expensive range finders but it works well when ranging objects in the field. You do have to be careful when ranging something in woods though. It will sometimes pick up on a twig rather than where the cross hairs are so better to range the trunk of a tree to get an idea. It is light weight and easy to use. The body is made of plastic so I am not sure how robust it would be if dropped but the camp finish is good.

Black LCD display makes difficult to read range when target is dark on dark brackground
The rangefinder seemed well packaged, and of a reasonable quality for the price, but not as good as I was expecting. It felt light and cheap. The rubber mouldings (grip areas) didn't all fit smoothly or flush to the plastic casing. Although the eyepiece was adjustable, it was loose and imprecise, moving on its own sometime a little. The biggest issue however is the the internal LCD display markings are black. This is fine if you have a brightly lit target and/or background, but far from ideal if not. I wanted to use this for shooting, and most of my targets aren't well illuminated (think things at base of hedges, etc.). As long as you can move the display around so that the distance reading has a paler background (not ideal method) you're ok, but otherwise it's not very easy to read correctly. The Amazon listing shows an image with a white LCD display, and this is what I was expecting - however mine was black. Another annoyance, which seems to be getting more common these days, is that it is also described as waterPROOF. It isn't waterproof by any means. Delving deeper and it has an IP rating of 4 ("Water splash against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect within 5 minutes". Google IPX ratings. This would be no good in the rain out for an hour or more. Waterproof to me means, oops, dropped in deep puddle, never mind, shake it off and it's ok to go again, at the very least (i.e. min of IP7). Perhaps I'm being picky about the build quality too, but I have in the past bought compact digital cameras cheaper than this, made by big brands, that have better quality cases, etc. It does work though, although it's resolution is 1 meter, and it sometimes changed between, say, 12 and 13 meters, unless you then take that as 12.5 meters. Overall, does the job, but was expecting a little more for my money. After all, there are much cheaper rangefinders available that probably offer the same quality/functionality for much less.
