I noticed a couple years back that my cat was very interested in drinking water out of the base of tree. This is not good for them, so I tried to use a skirt to block her out, with varying degrees of success depending on how well/strategic I tied it and how interested she was in getting to it.I decided to try a collar this year and I almost bought one from another retailer, but it sold out and I am glad it did in hindsight. If you have a real tree a collar you can put on after you get the tree stood up and secure is so much easier. You can also remove a panel to add water if you don’t have enough clearance to do so. A collar that disassembles is also easier to store.This collar has pins instead of screws, so it makes it very easy and quick to assemble. The actual collar feels heavy and is not flimsy at all, as I have seen mentioned about other products. It is a galvanized metal, but between the color and diamond design it can look very elegant and not in the farmhouse style. Nothing wrong with farmhouse, it’s just not my cup of tea. It is a very reddish brown, so if you have a very cool colored theme it might not work.I feel like this should go without saying, but I’ve seen this criticism often enough, don’t buy these based on the size of your tree. Measure the diameter of your stand/base and make sure it will fit over it. I actually chose this collar because it’s narrower than many others. I wanted it to fit closely to keep my cat from just getting in between, also I didn’t want it to take up more floor space than necessary or look awkward in proportion to my tree.

This tree collar is so cute. Definitely more than I expected. I was going for a tree collar this year instead of dealing with a tree skirt that just moves around too much especially when u have small toddlers. Definitely worth the price and the quality is great I will be using for a couple of years.
