Takes 10 mins
I am not sure what other review compains are about. I have used this around 8 times and each time I have used it I used it only one time per session and got results. You need to understand when to use this device. When ur beard is just grown out after 1 day of shave and u always want a clean shave look, then after bath just put shave cream and use it, it takes 10 mins and gives you a perfect clean shave. If you try on big beards (5-8 days old) then ofcourse this won't be affective. It's meant to clean stubble hair.Only con about it is the trimmer, either I don't know to use it or its utterly a waste of a feature.

Amazing shaving gadget!
I had long back tried a Braun foil shaver, dry type. I was not happy with it's performance and gave it off.Since then, I tried various cartridge razors, but none of them satisfied me as the Gillette Fusion 5.Believing that changing over to electric shaver would give me the advantage of avoiding in-grown hair, I was researching various products in the market. Since I had already tested a foil type shaver, this time I preferred to try the rotary type offered by Philips Norelco. But then I was confused about the various models of Norelco and was spoiled by choice. Nobody, not even the manufacturer, offers a clear cut distinction of the advantage or the disadvantage of one model over the other. It was a little strange to see some higher series like the 5000 series (I bought the 5582 model) costed almost half the price of lower series models like the 3500 series models.I toyed between the cost of the models and a few features like battery life and the number of cutting edges like 45 for the 5000 series against the 27 for the 3000 series and the presence of SenseIQ. It was almost like a lottery and I settled upon the S5582/20 model for a cost of about Rs. 7850.This is a dry and wet model like most new models are, with a trimmer that appears to be not all that efficient. But, the main reason for the purchase was for the shave, which it does most efficiently.I have now been using it for ten days and I can now confidently vouch for a very clean and close shave. On every term of consideration, the shave I have been experiencing with this shaver is superior to and faster than the cartridge (fusion 5) shaver I have been using hitherto. I don't sport a moustache. Shaving time for my entire face is about 3 to 4 minutes only. Shaving of the neck also is absolutely smooth and clean.I indulge only in wet shaving everyday, with Gillette gel.The experience is very pleasant and smooth. But then, will there be somebody to talk about the merits and demerits of various series of Philips Norelco (since there are models from about Rs. 3,000 to about Rs. 90,000) for the benefit of the buyer. The dichotomy is that the shaver pamphlet advises the shaving head to be replaced every year. But the spare shaverhead SH 71 recommended for this shaver suggest a replacement every alternate year. Which one is right?Another surprise is that the shaverhead costs almost as much as the shaver itself.

Most useful for people with sensitive skin
Writing this review after a month of using the Phillips electric shaver. I found this to be the perfect solution to constant redness and itching that I used to undergo everytime I tried to have a close shave using Mach 3 razors. This one matches 90,% of the shaving effect of a razor without the harshness on the skin. While yes it does increase shaving time a bit as you need to do multiple passes over tougher parts of the neck and jaw line but it is worth the effort.Surprised that despite so many reviews mentioning the side trimmer being ineffective Philips hasn't don't anything to rectify that. That's the only negative that I can see in the shaverBattery is currently lasting me for two full weeks and that is another big plus.Overall very satisfied with the purchase.

Beware of replacement need!
Beware! You will not find a replacement head for this and if you get it by any chance its price will be half the buying price. The head needs to be changed after 2-3 years else your face will start feeling itchy..

Excellent
Should have bought this years back. This is after spending a fortune on that damn overrated braun thing!Best suited for those who don’t not want a single hair sticking out of their face. Just run the shaver for a minute or two every day to have a clean look everytime.

Not as expected from Philips shaver
This shaver build is decent but the quality of the shave is below average. If you have a hard face hair and use this for a daily shave, then I suggest you buy a Braun instead. The honeycomb design doesn't adjust to the hardness and leaves patches along. You will need to spend 3+ attempts to get all the hair in wet mode, and 5+ attempts in dry mode. A roller style model is lot more effective.
