A MUST BUY
Hello, fellow Amazon users. Just wanted to tell you something about this scanner so you can make an informed decision. This vehicle scanner is a must buy. First, the price. You can't beat the price. This is so much cheaper than many of the name brand vehicles scanners out there. Second. It is small and compact vs. much of the competition. That is a huge plus when using it alot...and it is also a huge plus for the garage..when space is at a premium in the garage with so many other things stored in the garage. Third. It comes with live updates for many years to come. You can't beat that....when so scanners cannot be updated. Fourth. A rechargeable battery. Having a rechargeable battery makes like so much easier.....the productivity goes up and the hassles go down....as you never have to deal with buying batteries. Fifth. The performance. This scanner works excellent at what it does....which is scan vehicle codes. I had an engine light in my vehicle...and used this scanner to scan for the vehicle code and it worked flawlessly at telling me what it meant.......to verify i went to my local auto zone to have my car scanned........and this scanner was spot on.....Sixth: The interface is intuative and responsive. you press on an option on the touch screen and their is no lag. The user interface is intuitevely designed. You turn it on and everything is arranged in a tile format. The screen is bright and easy to see in the sun which makes for a very pleasant experience. For those reasons and more....I feel comfortable recommending this scanner to anyone.

A LOT FOR A LITTLE
This scanner does a lot for a small amount of money. I needed a simpler scanner to compliment the other scanners in my tool box. I was surprised of how extensive its capabilities are and even surpassing my 4-year-old competitor's scanner that was a few hundred dollars more. The scanner is light, nimble and it responds very quickly. This D5 scanner boots quickly in about 15 seconds and then subsequently will connect to the vehicle that is being queried in a reasonable amount of time. Scanners will connect quicker in some cars than others depending on how responsive the PCM/ECM provides the information that is being requested. In this example the PT Cruiser has a slow responding PCM with many scanners and code readers and the D5 linked to the car in 25 seconds. This quick link is a victory for this PCM with this XTOOL scanner. Space does not permit a complete review of all of this tool's capabilities but there are pictures included to illustrate a small portion of the D5's capabilities. There are two pictures that highlight the special functions that are available that include the two most common functions that are oil resets and TPMS resets. It is my opinion that there are a lot of functions included with this inexpensive tool. I wanted to check the injector pulse width during cranking commensurate with the map sensor voltage and coolant sensor voltage. These four parameters were selected from the live data menu and then "combined" by using the combine command. The D5 then places the data on a graph in real time and you can see all of the parameters selected as the vehicle is being cranked or while it is running. The limit is 4 parameters which is both helpful and sufficient. There is a pic included of this exercise. The last data query that was initiated was to combine and graph the oxygen sensor activity. As the graph illustrates the upstream oxygen sensor is switching actively as expected and the downstream sensor is more stable as expected. This was an efficient, quick, and easy way to audit the oxygen sensor activity and all the different parameters on the scan tool at the same time. A picture is included for this exercise also. I counted 91 different vehicles available to scan from the diagnosis menu on the XTOOL home screen. There is probably some that I missed but it is an impressive catalog of vehicle brands for a scan tool that is as inexpensive as this D5. It will of course read and clear codes which is the most important function that we require. Considering all of the capabilities that this tool offers I feel that I spent my money very wisely and very satisfied with this tool to date. I will update this review if there are any significant issues that transpire.

Basic functions not worth the price
For the price I expected more options at least being able to read the BCM on a 2005 Silverado. Pretty basic so might as well buy a less expensive product or for around the same price a Bluetooth type scanner that does all modules

Great features for the price (and no subscription!)
This review is for the D5S model: I have several automotive scanners that I've acquired over the years, ranging from $20 bluetooth dongles to >$1000 professional Autel units. Of those, 4 or 5 of them are bi-directional, and of those, this is the only one that has a huge screen at this price point and all the features you'd expect from something much pricier. The unit came charged over 85% and was essentially ready to use right out of the box. It uses USB-C to charge which works great with all the rest of my modern gadgets including cellphone, so no need to worry about additional cables there. The unit has built-in wifi and you need to register for a free account, but no payment information is required or anything like that, just an email address and password, and you're all set. Once you're connected, you'll likely notice several updates will be needed, but this is pretty common - my high-end Autel unit required almost 140 updates! This unit offers updates for the OS / firmware, and there were maybe 3 of those required, but it only took about 5-7 minutes including reboots. The rest of the updates are optional and car make specific, so if you are not going to use the device on a Lamborghini, you don't need to download that update. I tested this device out for a brake job I did on a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, and it worked perfectly! It even has safeguards in place so that if you are not following the proper procedure it will give you an error message (see picture about device limits), so this helped me to focus on the correct procedures necessary for resetting the electronic parking brake module while working on the rear brakes for this vehicle. The device really does a great job, and for the price point, you get a diagnostic tool that punches well above its weight!

Great product! Already paid for itself.
We purchased this scanner to perform a throttle body relearn on our 2007 Jeep Liberty, and it worked flawlessly. The setup was straightforward, and the menu was easy to navigate. It quickly accessed the engine, transmission, ABS (brake), and airbag systems without any issues. The entire relearn process took about 10 minutes from start to finish. We recorded a video while using it so others could see how simple it is. this tool saved us time and money and is a great option for DIY repairs. It walks you through step by step also so no guessing what you need to do. you don't have to be a professional to get professional results. This job we needed it for was actually priced more than this tool so it has already paid for it's self!! If I forgot to mention it also has lifetime updates.

Pretty decent, but cant do all the features it says you can.
Definitely cool and for the price its not bad. But i have found some cars dont wanna let this scanner do its job cause of the scanner being so generic. I had a 07 odyssey not let me scan stuff, and I had a 16 wrx sti not let me do it fully either. But for basic cel scan, its works just fine. Bleed the brakes on a 10 kia soul and it doesnt tell you where to start or anything. As soon as you hit start, it bleeds both abs modules at the same time... so wont be using that feature since it dont do it one at a time correctly.
