The part that goes inside the shirt, against the skin, is made of a high density foam that's not cold to the touch or hard as a rock, so I barely know it's there when I'm on my side. But, even with a foam mattress, where my 165 lbs body weight buries it a bit, there's no way that I could sleep with this thing beneath me.
