Nap is soft in all directions. Meets my tactile assessment. Burgundy is a maroon shade
I purchased the Burgundy in queen size for a full size bed. The fit is perfect. The quality is excellent. Although it is 100% polyester, the backing is not slick, so it shouldn't slide off the bed when you roll over. The sham is backed with cotton like fabric, not velvet backed. This is a sign of a lower quality quilt set. The Brielle velvet comforter set does have velvet backed shams. I have not deducted a star for the sham backing, but I probably should have. This comforter is a tad bigger and heavier weight than the Brielle velvet set. The color is more maroon than the jewel tone pictured. Since I purchased as a warehouse deal, I will keep it as the price was fair. At full price, it would have been returned because the color just didn't match the pictures. The maroon shade does not fit with my granddaughters color scheme. So, I am purchasing another brand velvet comforter in another color and will try again. The corners are all squared on this comforter. This is a good thing because depending on the direction of the nap, the color is very different. You may need to turn it end to end to obtain the visual shade you prefer. It is much darker one way than the other. Also, the pillow shams need to be turned the same direction as the comforter nap or they appear to be a completely different color. Both the comforter and shams are self trimmed in the velvet fabric. Because of this, the trim at the top of the sham does not appear to be the same color as the trim at the bottom of the sham. They ARE the same color/same fabric. Again, the direction of the nap on the velvet fabric causes a visual color difference. Not necessarily a deal breaker, but if this will bother you, a heads up. Having the shams included is a big plus. It is a bother to purchase shams separately. I will either gift this comforter to someone or set it aside to pull out in December to put together a Christmas themed bedroom. I have not laundered this set yet, so I can not comment on how well it will wash up. Another review suggested that this comforter needs to be line dried in the shade. I assume this is due to the color possibly fading in the sun. No problem. Hang with the velvet side in. Who cares if the back fades a tad in the sun? Or hang it out in the evening and collect it in the morning. After it is dry, I will put it on air dry in my dryer to fluff it up. I line dry all my bedding. Even in the winter on clear days. Sunshine fresh and UV sanitized. This comforter is quite heavy for a washing machine. Especially the new washers. I would only attempt washing this in a front loader. The top loaders with a center agitator would probably tear this up. This is a function of the center agitator and the weight of the comforter and does not impune the quality of the quilt. Water set at the highest level does not fill the tub in the new top load water conservation models. So, you may not want to risk using a top load washer for this item. I HATE the new water saving washing machines! But, that is another story. I ALWAYS launder bedding prior to use. Two reasons: chemical contamination and the presence of fecal contamination on fabrics coming from outside our Country. Independent laboratory testing has confirmed a high rate of fecal contamination on fabrics, including bedding and clothing. I wash everything before using or wearing. The studies were too gross and the findings too conclusive for me to ignore. Always add Borax to your wash to keep fabrics soft. Do not dry ANYTHING in the dryer on high heat. High heat damages fabric. Synthetics are especially vulnerable to high heat. Update: That being said, I decided to do my worst with the first washing. If it was going to come apart, I wanted it to happen within the return window. So, I took the burgundy comforter and shams to the laundromat and washed them in the largest front load machine on the hot water and extra extraction settings. I used about 2 cups of BORAX and a generous squirt of Dawn dish soap in the wash cycle. They came out beautifully. Then I put them in the dryer on high for 10 minutes. +5 minutes, then another +5 minutes. They were about 95% dry when I removed them from the dryer, folded and inspected them. Not a single problem! I was amazed at how much softer the fabric was after washing. This comforter set is beautiful and high quality. It has a nice weight to it. Not too light and not too heavy. I failed to measure the comforter before and after washing, so I can't offer any info on shrinkage. I felt the need to test this comforter with both hot water and high heat drying because I have purchased several more velvet comforters in different colors, some made by different manufacturers, and I wanted to know how the velvet comforters would hold up if they were laundered under the harshest conditions. This comforter passed my test with flying colors. This comforter will be babied from now on. I expect it will have a very long useful life. I am in the process of redressing 3 beds. King, queen and full. When the other velvet comforters arrive I will review and compare them. I would buy a comforter in this style from Tribeca again. I would feel confident giving this as a gift. 5 stars.

Luxurious
Soft, warm, all-season worthy. Looks stunning. I bought the camel, which looks like a dark burnished gold when the sun hits it. Was going to buy the gold but pic makes it look too yellow. I don't usually get this type of covering for the bed. I usually buy poufy comforters. But I took a chance on this one and I am very happy with it. My dogs get up on the bed so I was afraid that their hair would stick to the quilt and overwhelm it - not so. Very tiny amount of hair is on it and is easily removed. Very happy with it and would buy again.

Warm and cozy
Nice bedspread i have a silver, blue and purple one. They are medium weight good for summer air conditioning and cold winter nights. The velvet makes the color shimmer. The size fit my king bed perfectly, hangs over the sides just right. I have washed several times and material still looks great! the picture show a green spread i returned for blue just because i changed my color scheme.

Velvet quilt
Love this quilt. It’s not heavy like some quilts. So we use it year round. We also use it like a blanket. Nice, soft, cozy. Washes up nicely too.

BEAUTFUL color
The comforter(s) i purchased was the exact color of my curtains! They are luxurious and look like royalty. The only reason I gave it a 4 star is because they are not as light weight as I wanted them. I bought some other ones at Target and they work great in the other bedroom, light weight and work perfect. Target did not have the burgundy color I wanted for my bedroom so I though I would try to order online. They look like the ones I bought at Target except for the color. It is so hard to order online because you think your getting what you want, but alas it is not always true.
