I needed to drill some 1-1/2" holes in a cinder block retaining wall. I tried the diamond tip hole saws. Those were terrible. Kept binding, really slow cut. I kept the tool wet and it took over an hour to cut one hole. The holes was really clean and professional looking, but I was exhausted after just one. Switch to this guy and a cheap rotary hammer ($150 from a chain discount tool place), and I punched 10 holes in the same amount of time. I kept the tool wet so it would stay cool and keep a sharp edge longer. I was still pretty tired after an hour of work, but now I'm halfway done with the project.

This 1.5” x 21” bit is a beast. I spent more on it because of the tungsten carbide tip but it was worth it. Drilled almost 20 holes 16” deep for using with Dexpan product (expansion grout for demolition) on some poured concrete stairs. There were a few times I hit metal in the concrete, but this bit went through it. The tip still looks great. Well worth the money.

Bosch hammer drill bit worked very well

Works in lime and sand stone, not a high grade of carbide tip. Probably would not work well with granite or flint. Concrete might be okay.

Bought this for my rotary drill to get through a tough boulder I planned to crack open with Dexpan. Probably drilled two dozen holes, and could easily have done plenty more. Seemed expensive, but seemed well worth it for the quality.

I drilled 1.5" 15-in deep holes into hard rock boulders. The bit lasted for about 20 holes before the tungsten inserts wore out. So figure 300 inches or 25 ft of total depth. Not bad for this kind of work. I suspect they would last longer in regular concrete. Highly recommended.

Works as expected

Used this bit on bedrock in my backyard to make holes for splitting rocks. Did about 200+ holes and there is still some life left in the bit (surprised). Would buy again.
