This is a really helpful product for loosening soil and digging holes for planting. It is quite powerful and managed to loosen soil in my garden that hasn’t been turned in years. It even managed to cut through a lot of established roots that were in the way for planting new plants. One should be careful though, especially when the soil is very dry. The rotor action tends to send the soil and ant stones/rocks that might be present flying. It is probably a good idea to wear eye protection in that case. Producing holes for planting takes a little getting used to so that the loosened soil doesn’t simply collapse and go back in the desired hole. You just have to figure out the proper angle at which to hold the tool to keep the soil outside the hole.
