A very handy and functional tool. Cordless for convenience. Includes exactly the two blade sizes I need... one suitable for panfish and one for larger fish. The supplied blades were extremely sharp. As others have mentioned, they are a little fidgety to install, but it's really no big deal. They stay put. The included case is very nice! It's quite slim (think of the form factor as being like a large book -- see photo) and there is room inside for doing some custom work to make slots for additional blades if you desire. The fact that it will reportedly accept blades from other brands is a plus, if accurate. The battery has the capacity to very easily handle as many panfish as I usually clean at once (10-15). The battery has a cool "fuel gauge" to read out the current charge level and a nice A/C-powered battery charger is included. I haven't used it enough to comment on blade edge retention, but I can easily sharpen that type of serrated blade with a small triangular stone, so it's not a concern to me. The build quality looks and feels very good and the ergonomics are excellent. The only drawback --and it's a minor one-- of an electric filet knife is that the handle is much larger in diameter than a normal filet knife and the blade is a little less flexible, so it's necessary to set up your fillet board next to the edge of the counter or table or raise it up on a block so you can get the knife horizontal to your work. I know that some folks like to keep a traditional filet knife handy for taking the skin off the fillets, but I don't find that necessary. I'm happy with this KastKing knife and think it's a good value, like their other products. I've been debating buying an electric fillet knife for years and I'm glad I finally got one.

First off, I placed the order close to 10pm Thursday night, and it arrived Monday just after lunch. It’s like half the price of some others I was looking at, but I wanted to try it, because I already know that Kast King gear is well built. (I bought a couple of their tackle bags several years ago, and absolutely no issues.) Having said that, must say at the front of this, that the battery pack that came with the knife did not function right out of the box. I plugged it into the charger overnight, but still no juice. So I contacted the supplier, sent them a video of what was going on, and they mailed out a full replacement the next day. AWESOME!! So continuing the review, the semi-soft-case is sturdy, including heavy duty zippers, and everything is neatly organized and protected in the foam interior. I don’t always keep cases that come with tools, but I’ll definitely be using this one. Picking up the knife handle, initially looks big, because it is, especially when you’ve spent most your life with a classic fillet knife, but its rubberized grip feels good in your hand, contoured and secure, even with wet hands. The motor feels plenty powerful. And the noise isn’t bad at all, pretty much what I was expecting. Both sets of blades were very sharp, and clicking them into the handle was easy, as long as they’re aligned. The 9” blade is plenty big for the fish I catch, typically less than 5lbs, but it’s got good flex, and I don’t doubt it will go through scales and ribs no problem. The 7” finesse blade looks perfect. I bet this thing will fly through perch. I’ll update after I’ve had a chance to put it to the test, but initially, I’m very happy with this knife, and the customer service was absolutely excellent.

Really like the knife! Love the finger guard! It seems to have plenty of power. Two sizes of blades are a must and they are pretty damn sharp, I appreciate that! The soft case is nice but I would prefer a hard shell case. Love the flexibility of cordless! Construction appears to be pretty solid. Haven't yet used it on a fish but will be testing soon. I will update at that time. Overall pretty awesome product. 4 stars for the preference for a hardshell case.

I have had a few rechargeable filet knives in the past that and they generally tend to be pretty heavy, but this one is much lighter. Balance is important as rechargeable knives are, in general, longer and more unwieldy than a 'manual' filet knife. This knife is very well balanced! The blade guard is well designed. I'm hoping that one battery will be enough, but additional batteries are available, if needed. The case is very stream-lined and the foam cut outs for the knife parts are well designed and obvious. Overall, this is a very nice knife at an excellent price! Kastking does it again!

The ergonomic design and non-slip grip are comfortable and provide great control. Plus, the long-lasting battery and storage case are super convenient. Highly recommend this knife!
