I love my Kindle! Update!
I have had my Kindle for over a month, and I am still excited about this Kindle. However, I just saw that it is on sale (Black Friday Deal), and I wanted to cry. It is now $45 less than what I paid (excluding the cost of the charger and case; add another $60 to that $45 (Ouch!)). Then, I had to have a talk with myself, and it went like this: Trinigal, stop being upset! You are fortunate to have purchased a Kindle that works well, and doesn’t have issues (like others who have shared the dissatisfaction with their Kindle). You are still enjoying your reads and always looking forward to your next read. I then chuckled to myself, and said that the title of the next book I select should be: When is the right time to buy a Kindle? My original review is below: This is my first Kindle, so I don’t have any other Kindle to compare it to. I usually read a physical book, books on my Computer, IPad or iPhone. This Kindle makes a difference in my ability to relax while reading a book. It is an awesome device that is portable, light weight, and convenient. Although I like reading on my IPad, it will no longer be my go to device for reading (When you know better, you do better). My house is full of unread books that I bought over the years, and that really bothers me because I just couldn’t find the time to read (being a professor with lots of other academic books to read, I gave those academic books priority over a good novel). Now, I am at the point where I want to read books for relaxation purposes. I chose the Kindle Paperwhite Signature edition as part of my incentive to read a good book. I researched this Kindle for an entire month before investing in it. Let’s get to the workings of the Kindle: This 7 inch Kindle is easy to hold in my hands. The IPad truly strained my hand when I tried to use only one hand when reading. At times, I had to lean the IPad on my thighs for support. Now, there will be no more hand to thighs when reading! The Kindle set up was very easy, and user friendly. I did not experience any problems connecting to the internet. After set up, with bated breath, I waited to see how the pages turned on the Kindle, and if I will find any fault with the action of turning the pages of the book I was reading. I am happy to say there was none; no noticeable long lag time, no problems were experienced with the turning of pages on this Kindle. Then I squinted my eyes, opened my eyes wide, I turned the Kindle upside down, and side to side while turning to the next page of my book; I was trying to see if there will be any trace of the previous page as I turn to the next page ( ghosting; some users experience an imprint of the former page while moving to the next page of their book). Happy to report, I tried hard to find a problem with that but I found none. What about the battery? The battery charged very quickly, and there was no problem during that process. I did charge the battery with the case on the Kindle, (as the picture shows). The Kindle came with an 80% charge and in 30 minutes (or less) it was fully charged (100%). I am hardly ever swayed by reviews: Sometimes reviews work as an incentive, or a deterrent….I always say, try an item out and make your personal decision. This Kindle is a keeper, and I am also going to purchase the new Color Kindle Colorsoft. Conclusion: This Kindle paper white Signature Edition , Gen 12/32 GB, is truly made for reading. It is certainly a handy device for traveling, and reading on the go. It is easy on the eyes, and therefore, easy on the brain. The raspberry color is really nice, and I plan on buying an extra clear case so that I could easily see the vibrant color of the kindle. I am honestly excited to be part of the Kindle family!

Excellent! A worthy upgrade from previous generation Kindles
I don't usually write reviews, but felt compelled due to some of the negative reviews and press surrounding the new Kindle PW6. The biggest concerns seem to be 1) quality control issues causing visible yellow banding at the bottom of the display and 2) the display color temperature being too warm/yellow and not as cool/white as previous generations. The first concern is certainly an issue that Amazon needs to investigate, but the second concern is more subjective. While my Kindle is only one sampling, I’m happy to report that I have neither of those concerns. With that said, I do believe the display on these new Kindles is slightly warmer in overall color temperature by design (even in their lowest warmth setting). Some people may be particularly sensitive to this change and dislike it, but I prefer it and find this display closer to actual paper and thus easier on my eyes. I’m upgrading from a 2015 PW3 and the 2024 PW6 Signature is a worthy upgrade. Here are the biggest improvements for me in order of significance: 1) Warm Light – While I’ve loved my PW3, the overly cool light has been my biggest gripe. This has been a massive improvement for me, especially since the PW6 can be scheduled to use cooler temperatures during the daytime and warmer temperatures in the evening. 2) Auto Dimming Light – I was regularly adjusting the brightness on my old Kindle so I’m happy this model handles that automatically. 3) Display improvements – The lighting is more even and consistent with extra LED's available to distribute the light. Text clarity and contrast are also better. While I consider most of these modest improvements, as the PW3 still has a great display, there’s no question that the PW6 is an improvement over previous generation Kindles. 4) Wireless charging & USB-C – No more digging for an antiquated micro-USB cable. 5) Screen size – The jump from 6” to 7” is great while still having a similar overall profile to the PW3. This allows text to scale closer to a paperback size, which I appreciate. 6) Speed – While I was accustomed to the slow PW3, the PW6 is WAY faster. Everything from navigating menus to page turns is quick and snappy (for an e-ink display - still slow compared to LCD/LED). 7) Waterproof – Always good to know it can handle a spilled drink or splash in the pool/tub. 8) Battery life – Kindles have always had great battery life so this has never been an issue in my opinion, but more run time is always appreciated. The only area where the PW3 is better than the PW6 is handling glare and reflections. Starting with the first waterproof model PW4, the Paperwhites have used a flush display. While the PW6 is still great in real world usage, the old matte Kindle displays were better at handling glare. TLDR: The PW6 is an excellent and worthy upgrade for anyone with a PW4 or older. For those with a PW5, the PW6 is a relatively minor refresh.

Excellent clarity and blazing speed; a worthy upgrade.
The screen has excellent sharpness and contrast, the best of any ereader I've ever seen in person. It brings to mind another device that featured strikingly good sharpness and contrast despite the layers over the screen: The Voyage. I don't have one on hand to do a direct comparison, but it certainly seems to have that same sort of secret sauce going for it. I'll be very interested to see some direct comparisons from people who still have a Voyage on hand. It's not as apparent in photos, but I'm surprised at how much sharper it is than my 2021 PW. I knew from the early reviews that it would be better, but I wasn't expecting it to be so noticeable. Even my beloved Oasis comes up short in a direct comparison! Much has been made of the speed of this iteration of the PW, and it's not just empty hype. I never thought the word "fast" would ever really apply to an e-ink screen due to the limitations of the technology, but the Kindle team has made that a reality. Pages turn as quickly as I can tap the screen, and while I've never cried out to the heavens about page turns being too slow, it's impressive to see such responsiveness on an e-ink screen. The true benefits of this speed come into play when navigating menus, adjusting settings, and especially when typing. I honestly did not think it was possible for an e-ink screen to be so fast and responsive. This is truly impressive. The speed in itself is not a reason to upgrade to this model, but if you're already considering an upgrade, it is definitely an extra enticement. Despite the larger screen, it's very nearly the same size, measuring about a millimeter taller and wider. Annoyingly, it's just enough that the device won't fit in cases made for the 2021 model. (At least, neither of the ones I have.) The back of the device feels very similar, just a bit slick. I still have no difficulty holding onto it. The power button is still on the bottom, and though I understand why some are annoyed by this, it's never been an issue for me. I've been using Kindles for thirteen years, and while about five of those saw me primarily using an Oasis, that's still a good eight years I used various basic and PW models. In all that time, I don't recall ever pressing the power button by mistake. So I get why it's a point of irritation for some, but it's not a mark against the device for me. I have a Colorsoft on order, and this PW was intended as an early Xmas gift for my mom. While I set it up for her, I just couldn't resist playing around with it a bit, and it has really won me over. If I wind up not keeping my Colorsoft, I'll definitely be getting one of these for myself. The improvements are mostly small, but those little things add up to a noticeably superior experience. Despite the lack of page turn buttons, which I truly love, it just may supplant my Oasis as my main reader!

A Premium Reading Experience That Truly Feels Like Paper
I really like it. It’s fast, easy to use, and the screen looks very clear—almost like reading a real book. The light is great, especially at night, and it doesn’t hurt my eyes. I also like that the brightness adjusts automatically. The battery lasts a long time, so I don’t have to worry about charging it often. And the 32GB storage is more than enough for all my books. Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. If you enjoy reading, this is definitely worth it.

The GOAT e-reader
You basically need a case to use the Kindle Signature properly. Fit is ok, feel is cumbersome without a case. But in every other respect, it's the best e-reader I've bought in my whole life. The functionality is excellent; there is memory enough for a small library of books and comics / manga, backlit well enough to read in any lighting conditions and the battery lasts ages with Airplane mode on. I have not tested the audible feature here. It charges pretty quick too, I've never had any significant downtime when I'm in a big reading session either. Buy this for any serious reader in your life and I'm sure they'd appreciate it. I'm not sure how durable it is but I'm not keen to test it. It doesn't scratch easily, at the very least.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition 12th Gen vs. 6th Gen — Real Differences
I’ve used the Kindle Paperwhite 6th generation for years, and recently switched to the Signature Edition (12th generation). The differences are clear. The new 6.8‑inch screen with 300 ppi resolution makes text sharper and easier to read. With a matte screen protector, glare is minimal, which helps during long reading sessions. The automatic light adjustment and dark mode are both useful features that make reading more comfortable in different environments. Despite the larger screen, the Signature Edition feels lighter than my old 6th Gen — I compared them directly and was surprised by the weight. Storage has also increased from 4 GB to 32 GB, which is more than enough for books and audiobooks. Charging is now via USB‑C or wireless, and page turns are faster and smoother. Another plus is that this model comes without ads, so the interface stays clean and distraction‑free. Overall, the Signature Edition is a solid upgrade that makes reading more enjoyable and modern compared to the 6th Gen.

Feels worth it! (So far)
First off this purchase was definitely an impulse purchase but so far I am very happy with it I do like the black color (even though I do wish there was a few more color options but still very satisfied). Next I do want to speak about the size, fit, design, and feel its an overall small design and at first I was like wow this is much smaller then I thought it was going to be but I instantly realized that it was a great size the screen I can tweak the text size so reading isn’t an issue but it’s small enough to just fit in my pocket and go and I love that about it makes it easier to keep on me and read when I can! Next the design it’s sleek and simple and for a device that you use to read book it feels like it’s a simple solid design! Now the functionality of it I struggle with reading and focusing in general so that the reason I bought this I could have downloaded an app and read the books on my phone or iPad but struggling to read like I do I get distracted easily so I decided to try this out and so far I have been extremely satisfied with it’s for sure worth it if you want to read more but get distracted easily this will help you focus more on the book and the read then the distraction that come with other devices. Lastly the price this one I’m a little torn on I did go for the bigger size which was more and then the surcharge for the version with no ads seemed a bit unnecessary but I did get 3 months of the kindle subscription so that will help me decide over then next few months if I really deem it worth the extra money and I will update later down the road but so far I am satisfied and I have started The Hobbit book I am loving it so far! (Oh yeah also you can hook up Bluetooth headphones and listen to audiobooks as well which I also love that feature as well cause same thing as before I get distracted easily notifications can make me stop my book and then I’m lost this there is no interruptions so that is another great feeling about this device!) One thing I will say is I wish I could simultaneously listen to the audiobook and read along side the text at the same time but it’s okay I still love it!

Amazing!
Overall amazing! Super easy to set up and get books on it. Great color. I get about 2 weeks on a charge, which is pretty cool. Have had some issues with it disconnecting from Wi-Fi and not letting me reconnect but usually resolves in a day or 2. Worth it!
