I have a mcdonalds hotspot that I can pick up from one room in my house, can i use this repeater to extend the signal?

As long as the extender is placed in a location where the source Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong, it should be possible.

I got tp-link support today and they said "any of our extenders does not support mac filtering or access control " on host router. is it true ?

How far away can it be from the router?

Basically as far your router's Wi-Fi signal reliably reaches. The extender has to be installed in a location where your router's Wi-Fi signal is sufficiently strong/stable, so the extender can capture and extend that signal.

Do you need a new password for your devices, or can you use existing router password?

By default, it uses the same Wi-Fi password as the existing router if you are using it as an extender. If you are using it as an access point, you can create a new SSID and password.
