The after-sales service that I have received from this small company has been excellent. I had an HP 8620 printer for which I had previously always bought HP inks without any issues - except the now extortionate price of £150 for a full set of XL inks! An initial hiccup when switching to these compatibles was swiftly overcome last year by reverting to the printer's original firmware (and turning off auto-updates) to overcome the subsequent changes of HP's firmware ostracising non-HP cartridges! For almost a year, I had no problems other than the (more) occasional need for printhead cleaning. Then, on doing a second level clean a few days ago, the printer suddenly declared a problem with one or two of the cartridges. I contacted Smart Ink and they made a few suggestions but then offered to send me a replacement set of cartridges in case the problem lay with them. They arrived the next day but the fault continued and, having already spent the best part of 4 hours taking cartridges in and out and taking apart the print head and thoroughly cleaning all parts of it, they politely suggested that the fault probably lay more with the print head (as the same cartridges had worked for the whole of this year) and I could not fault that rationale! They had been most helpful and considerate and that has been much appreciated. FOOTNOTE: I do wonder if the cartridge that the printer picked on most of the time had run down without it being reported on in good time so I would advise EVERY user of compatible cartridges for ALL printers to be vigilant on monitoring their ink levels in case their printer is not as sharp at reporting low ink levels for compatibles.

Up to now I had always used genuine cartridges but HP pricing has gone beyond outrageous so I decided to take a chance with 3rd party ink. But which one to choose? After spending some time looking through the reviews here I found one where the manufacturer had answered a user's problem and with what seemed pretty solid advice. That was Smart Ink. So I installed cartridges carefully into my 8600, exactly following the nearly-English instructions. Worked first time. They've been in about a month now, printing many colour documents. The only thing I have noticed is that on pages with very heavy blocks of colour, the paper soaks up the ink and gets a bit damp. This is very rare and usually everything is ok. Not used them with photos or with photo paper yet. Would buy again.

They seemed to work fine for a while, but I do not print in colour that much. A few days ago when I needed to print in colour they were all messed up and the blue was leaking onto the paper as the printhead passed over. After removing the printhead caddy and cleaning it, the colours were still no better. I then forked out over £100 for a new original HP set and put them in. The attached picture shows HP on the left and SMART Ink on the right.

Very good quality cartridges

Instantly recognised by printer, with good quality ink.

Yellow colour was not printing properly and instead yellow was replaced with Green. To sort such issue print a page full of yellow (or what ever colour is not printing... it could be Magenta/Cyan/Yellow). After half page in Green then it turned yellow.

After using this ink my printer broke, needed a £150 part to fix it. Company refunded immediately with no problem, but I still had to buy a new printer.

Die Druckerpatronen wurden vom Drucker sofort erkannt. Die Druckqualität ist ok.

HP peut en prendre de la graine... -Le prix est imbattable, environ 4X moins cher ! oui oui HP vends 4 cartouches 102€ ! et le résultat est le même... Ils nous mettent dans la tête que si on achète un produit HP on ne peut prendre que les consommables HP .... j'y croyais, mais c'est fini les mensonges ! ! N'ayez pas peur et lancez vous! Compré este set de cartuchos para mi impresora y el cartucho cian daba error: la luz del cartucho parpadeaba constantemente. Contacté con el vendedor y me enviaron rápidamente un nuevo set completo con entrega urgente, sin pedirme la devolución del anterior. Muy buen servicio postventa.
