This is one of the only fans we found that can be operated both with a solar panel and a power adapter, with a battery on top of that. When there is not enough sun to charge the battery for the night, plug it in and your chickens are taken care of. The fan is easy to install, quiet, and moves quite a bit of air. We were worried that the chickens will have trouble roosting so close to the fan (the coop is rather small), but since it is so quiet, they either ignored it or got used to it within minutes. The exterior protection flap is a great addition and protection from the elements. The solar panel arrived shattered - one quick call to Amazon and one message to the seller, and an entire new kit was shipped to me without having to ship the damaged kit back (I have already installed all the other parts and did not wish to remove them). I purchased the solar fan in May 2025 and was very excited to make this purchase for my chicken coop. I was looking forward to having a healthier environment for the chickens. Installation was pretty easy and it functioned well for the first couple months. Unfortunately during the hottest time of the year, it stopped functioning, even when plugged in to an outlet. I needed to improvise for ventilation for the coop and am now needed to make further repairs plus replace the purchased fan. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this device due to minimal life expectancy.

Even with the solar panel pointed directly at the sun on a cloudless day, the fan barely works. However, when connected directly to the wall power supply, the fan works at full speed and circulates air in a backyard telescope observatory, as desired. Don’t know if the battery works — it hasn’t built up a full charge yet.

I bought this to help cool off my garage; it's not nearly big enough for that, but this is just helping the other fan I already have installed. I like this one because it's solar powered, which means I don't feel like I'm wasting electricity if it runs a lot. The listing says it would work 16'x16' space *or larger*, and I have my doubts about that. The fan is not mighty, but I would say it would service a 16'x16' space or smaller no problem. The fan assembly is all plastic, and I imagine that won't be good for longevity but for the price, it's a good unit. The installation kit comes with some extra hardware and the instructions aren't super clear, but it's fairly easy to figure everything out.

Have a feeling that my battery is defective, charges all day and the fan spins, come night the fan turns off and the light turns red. I have charged it twice via the wall brick; would return it but I've already cut a whole in my chicken coop.

It really works. It’s a great way to keep the area clean and dry for whatever the need. It seems very sturdy. Of course it’s plastic so obviously you have to be careful. Air flow is very strong. Portability not so great because if the long cords but to be in an area is perfect. Battery last pretty good but if not in direct sunlight it slows down a bit.

I tried to use this in my greenhouse. It didnt cool it much. The air flow was good if you put your hand right next to it. It did run well off the solar panel, just couldn't push enough air to make any difference.
