Madison Reed Radiant Hair Color Kit, Permanent Hair Dye, 100% Gray Coverage, Ammonia-Free, Barletta Brown 4.5NNN Dark Brown for Resistant Grays, Pack of 1

I tried this color out of desperation due to having mild allergy symptoms to a demi permanent color as well as a few other permanent home colors. I'm praying to the hair color gods that this brand will be my hairs saving grace!!!! I applied the formula yesterday using 2 boxes as I have long hair. One problem I generally have I scalp itching and irritation during and after processing. The irritation was much less in comparison to other products I've used. I might add that I had washed my hair earlier in the day to remove product so my scalp was already drier and has been flaky for a few weeks. If I hadn't had that issue there likely could've been no irritation at all. The flow of the color is slower than other products asking it easier to control and less messy overall. I loved that it came with barrier cream, not one but 2 pairs of quality gloves, a processing cap AND color remover wipe!!! Bless this company for being so thoughtful these things make the process so much better!!! I will say the remover wipe works on skin and counters but left my neck red after. Also note that I have VERY sensitive skin and the irritation was gone by morning. The color felt dry in hair and not at all conditioning. Rinsing and washing went fine. The shampoo and conditioner provided also worked well and felt great. My hair did feel very dry afterwards but ....let's be honest it is long and has been processed several times with box color so I'll accept that. Also this is permanent color not a demi permanent gloss so there's that aspect. It's been less that 24 hours so my scalp is still slightly angry but I'm happy to report that my post coloring hair loss wasn't too bad. I'll see how things go in the weeks following but I'm really hoping that this is the brand for me because everything about the products provided as well as the excellent gray coverage and beautiful color I got are a win for me!

My mom was a hair stylist, she told me to always use a certain hair color; take into account this was years ago prior to this hair color being on the market. I never knew how damaging, and what terrible shape my hair was until I tried Madison Reed hair color, and I will NEVER use another hair color again!! This hair color covers my gray hair amazingly, and my hair feels so soft & manageable after coloring. The accessories that come with the hair color are a must have for coloring, IE: gloves, parameter gel, parameter cleaning wipe, cap, color applicator (I put into color bowl and use a color brush the apply), and after care shampoo & conditioner. I use Bartlett brown for my color, it's very natural looking. People I have not known for years think it's my natural color. For those who've known me for years and have seen the color shades change know I color my hair, but only because it's been a drastic red to auburn, then toe brown change. The photo is of my hair about 2-3 weeks after coloring, and I just had a haircut right before taking the photo, hence why all the random hairs. I am 48 with prominent gray hair. The only slight complaint I have is I wish the tubes were larger and they provided more developer in the kit for people with thicker hair. The color tubes are pretty standard, I am only providing my input on this piece. I have to buy extra developer & color tubes with each order. So if you have thicker hair, longer hair or both, I highly recommend buying 2-3 additional developers and color tubes for your first time using so you have enough color to cover all your hair. I have been coloring my hair for at least 35 years. Madison Reed hair color kit is the most well planned out, thoughtful, wonderful haircolor I could ever buy! There are 2 sets of gloves, cap, Barrier Cream, Cleaning Wipe and Shampoo, Conditioner for after washing out color. I’m about 75% grey so I use the full kit on my hair about once a month. Kit aside, the color is natural, shiny and deeply penetrating so I’m not looking at grey hair in 3 days like the other junk on the market. Just one small tip-be sure to open the shampoo and conditioner before you wash everything out because once you’re in the shower, ( at least my hands aren’t strong enough to crack open those packets). I have used this product for over two years and have never had one complaint. I hate to say it will work for everybody, but I do believe you’d be pleased. I used a lighter color on my best friend a while back, and she absolutely loves it too! I’ve always had very very dark hair so I use the 4N it comes out perfect every time! Love it!! It’s a bit pricey at 30.00 but to me worth every dime-beats spending $75 and more at a hairdresser!! Thank you Amazon for carrying such a great brand. When I use one box up, I order the next one right away!!

Ok, let me start by saying this gets 4 stars instead if 5 because a LOT of the cost is unnecessary packaging. The hair dye itself is fabulous — it doesn’t smell of harsh chemicals and the color was true. It also covered my long hair with one package. It was better than the salon at covering my resistant grey. Great product, BUT. . . There are two sets of gloves which is a plus but they are packed separately from the shower cap in their own box. The shower cap was an excellent and much appreciated addition. The shampoo and conditioner come in pouches as normal. But the actual instructions have a satin coating on them which makes them velvety to the touch. This is wildly expensive for something you will handle once and throw away. I worked in commercial printing and soft touch coating is very expensive and usually reserved for luxury items. The cost could be cut in half with better packaging but it would not set itself apart from other products. I will be buying again. I am betting the packaging gets reduced but the price stays the same.

Love the rich color and full texture it gave me … I used it as a root touch up but would do all over with trust in the result .. I gave this a chance but will try it again .. maybe the shampoo as well
