My cats need the xl or jumbo boxes. This stainless steel box is perfect. They also like to scratch the sides of the box. If they do that on plastic boxes, it scratches litter and bacteria into the plastic, making it necessary to discard these boxes after some time. This is a waste of money. Stainless will wash up like new and be ready to go again. These stainless steel boxes are a great buy. This one has a plastic extender cap for those "high pee-ers". The exit out the front of the box has a built-in grate part, to let litter fall through from their paws and back into the box. This helps reduce litter tracking onto the floor. The box is very stable and solid. No tipping. One of my cats likes to exit the sides of the boxes and tip them. I doubt this will happen with this box. The sides are high, but also the stainless is heavier and the base of the box is solid on the floor. With regards to noise level, I've not heard my cats going in this box. Miss Side of the Box Scratcher Lady hasn't made noise in this one, because she can't scratch it like the other plastic boxes. The lid comes off for easy cleaning. I don't have to lift the lid to get waste out of most of the box, but sometimes you may need to remove it to get anything under the front where the grate is. Or you can just reach under there with the scoop and pull the litter to the middle and clean it. They give you a new scoop for your box, which is really a nice little bonus. This is a great box. You will be really pleased with this litter box for your lovely cats.
