It's good for field use, and it's so easy to move from test to test in a lab setting. The bandwidth covers most of my needs. I even use it on signals that have a rise time below 20 ns. Not for professionals. *by C***S on 22 November 2025* This appears to be an amazing instrument and has features we never dreamed possible when I was learning electronics in the 1960s. It would have been perfect for my hobby use. However a couple months ago, I got pulled out of retirement and my requirements became professional again. I bought this product but I discovered it uses an 8 bit A/D converter which means there are only 256 vertical data points on the screen. This is alright for a beginner or a hobbyist as the price is the most important thing. I recommend it for those applications. But for the R&D I am getting paid to do, I need 12bit or better A/D to get the necessary resolution. I had not even thought of this until I saw the display. I had to return it and bought another instrument for twice the price with no additional features other than a better A/D converter. Pity. It is really great otherwise. For learners where price is all important. All that work to engineer a great product and to blow it in economizing on one chip inside, relegating it to the hobby market. Likely done on purpose because otherwise there would be no incentive for pros to buy a more expensive instrument. But hobbyists and students, go for it as it will be a wonderful learning tool for not a lot on money.
