The design is cute without being tacky, and it looks great in both bright sun and shade. Functionally, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. The large display is a big plus—you can see the temperature from several feet away, and it reads clearly in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. I've compared the readings with another thermometer I trust, and this one has been consistently accurate. Whether I’m using it in the pool, hot tub, or even the koi pond, the measurements hold up well. It also comes with a tether string, which is handy for keeping it from drifting across the pool or getting caught in skimmers. The fact that it's battery-powered is a nice touch too, though I haven’t had to change the battery yet so I can’t speak to battery life. Now, for the reason I gave it four stars instead of five: longevity. Just like the version I originally bought from Walmart, this thermometer seems to last only 1 to 2 seasons at most. After a year or two of sun exposure, heat, and water, the plastic starts to fade, the readings become less consistent, or the thermometer just stops working altogether. Temperature is easy to read and the chlorine tablets fit well. We tied them together though because the little guy was getting sucked into the skimmer.

I love this thermometer. We use it in our backyard koi pond, and it works great. The algae builds up on the surface every now and then, but it’s easy to wipe off or rinse.

Lasted less than 24 hours in the pool before sinking to the bottom. Advertised as a floating pool thermometer but that is a lie. Will not float now and immediately sinks to the bottom. Thermometer seems to work okay but again, only had in the pool for 24 hours. Make sure to tie it to something on the surface unless you want to fish it out from the bottom of the pool. Do NOT recommend!!

It's very accurate. I put it in back of the plants, because it is about the size of a normal candy bar.
