Verilux HappyLight Alba - New Round UV-Free LED Therapy Lamp, Bright White Light with 10,000 Lux, Adjustable Brightness, Color, and Countdown Timer

I will never buy this brand's products again. After using it for just over a week, the connector cable broke, and I couldn’t find a similar replacement cable on the market. I contacted HappyLight’s customer service, and they told me to reach out to the Amazon store. However, it seemed that the store name had changed. After mistakenly sending my message to the wrong store, I contacted Amazon customer service, and they helped me get in touch with the current store. But the current store then told me to contact HappyLight headquarters. After going in circles and wasting so much of my time, the issue was never resolved. I ended up just throwing the product away. I'm now using a different brand's floor-standing light therapy lamp, and it works great.

WOW. I’ve been feeling quite low energy after a particularly brutal winter in NYC. I had no desire to clean or work even though ~getting things done~ usually brings me joy in warm weather. I kept reading that it takes consistent use to few positive effects, but I felt it IMMEDIATELY. 20 mins into reading my book with the lamp on my bedside in the placement recommended by the pamphlet, I was literally smiling and feeling like the air smelled cleaner - like I was outside laying on a comfy blanket in a park. After an hour of reading by the light, I felt the urge to pop up and deep clean my apartment, which I did, which helped boost my mood even more to have felt productive without guilt or shame or pressure - just a genuine desire to move and clean. I asked chatgpt (don’t judge) if that was a common reaction and learned it was! The bright light going into the retina generally stimulates that sort of reaction due to dopamine boosts, increased alertness, and nervous system regulation. Everyone is different but I gotta say - this WORKS for me, someone who is already on SSRIs and still felt the lethargic, dull effects of a long cold winter / Seasonal Affective Disorder. This is a great size, feels like it will last a long time, and I like the buttons that allow it to be more warm. I really considered purchasing the cheaper knockoffs but this is an actual medical grade device and i trust the metrics and tests that this company does (I did a lot of research and the claims made by the cheaper products are not always verified / verifiable. And in any event, now that i have this, i would’ve paid double what i paid for it - it’s very much worth the price.

I've been using another lamp from a different company for years now but wanted to try this one as well. I've been using it for several days now and can confirm positive results. What I like: -The unit feels robust and everything feels high quality. -The LED light is perfectly uniform and reveals little to no flickering when I point my camera at it unlike my first SAD lamp. -Choice of 3 tints from white - warm - warmest is an excellent option. -Touch controls work well. Love the timer feature that uses LED lights to show much time is left -Solid stand. One reason I chose this is the other lamps have flimsy looking stands. The only disadvantage is this one is fixed and cannot be adjusted or removed -Completely silent. My first lamp has a hissing sound. -3 year warranty, giving me peace of mind that I can use this for hours on end. -The lamp is just as bright as my other one that is rated at 10,000 lux at 7 inches. The manual says this lamp is rated at 10,000 lux at 6 inches perhaps because of the smaller light area. I prop the lamp on a box and keep it close to my face to achieve this (see picture). But remember, you can keep the lamp further if desired, but you just need to have longer sessions to get the same therapeutic effects. -The benefits I've noticed is that I am more alert and don't easily get sleepy during the day. I also get tired early at night, making it easy to go to bed early, stay asleep, and wake up early. I also notice a better mood overall. When I wake up in the morning and have adjusted to normal indoor light, I then use this lamp at the lowest setting and slowly increase every minute or so until at max brightness. I use the lamp for 1-3 hours in the morning and don't use it past 2pm. My sleep has been amazing also because I don't spend my evenings on a screen anymore but go to sleep early after reading a book.

This is my third or fourth "happy light" over the years. It looks very nice and sleek and works great. The only issue I have is the style takes precedence over the function. The controls are very subdued on the rear of the lamp-- it is tricky to find them by just using the feel. The timer button is really counter-intuitive. I have to crack open the instruction manual to figure our the strange formula of short and long presses to set the time. The instructions are well-written and explain it well, but I would have never been able to set the timer without the directions. The light is plenty bright enough. It has three different color temperatures and three brightness settings. I would have liked a longer cable for it, but it uses a standard USB-C connection, so I have longer cables around.

I have never used one of these lights.This is small compared to a lot that is offered which appealed to me. I like the ease of use and the options you have in setting it up to use. You have 4 light strengths and 4 colour shades of light to choose from. How effective less light would be I have no idea. It is bright, but you can start out with a lower setting for light intensity and time and work up to what you need. The booklet is clear in directions and use. Heed the warnings if you have any issues. I bought this in November with skepticism it'd would help, HOWEVER I have found it has helped me through the darker period of winter so far, and I am less dragged down by the grey weather on the coast. Also my sleep has improved incredibly which was a huge surprise for me. I would recommend it, but you have to know it takes awhile - a month or 2 before you may feel some effects.

I love in Michigan. Winters are dark and cold. First, I love the size. I live in a small space and this fits perfectly on my counter without taking up space. I sit at my island every morning with my coffee and happy reading dedicating 30 minutes to my Happy Light. The dedication has saved my mental health through the darkness of winter. Highly recommend even if this is not the product you buy. Get a Happy Light!
