No need to meddle with the van electrics or reverse light. The magnet is really strong so the camera stayed in place despite some quite bumpy roads. A metal plate is provided in the kit in case you need it. The quality is really good. The camera mount has a very sticky coating, so I had no problem attaching it to a textured dashboard. The 12v charging socket has a USB-A socket integrated into it. The carry bag is a really neat addition and helps protect the camera when not in use (it makes sense to remove the camera from the van when not in use to prevent theft). The screen has a 120s/240s/always on setting so you can decide how long to keep the screen on. I changed it to the the permanent setting for a continuous rear view, and the battery still seemed to still be fully charged after 30mins of driving and there were no camera glitches in this time. When I put the camera away after my drive, I forgot to turn it off - but to my pleasant surprise the camera was still showing full charge when set it up the next day. Great little unit if you want a really easy install and don't feel comfortable with vehicle electrics.
