Compare and contrast of calcium citrate vs calcium citrate maelate
Price: This is $32 for 180 pills at 1000mg / per pill and my old calcium citrate was $10 for 220 pills of 350mg per pill. So I had to take 3 pills to get same amount of 1 pill of this. I have been taking this for about 15 years and I’m ready for a huge change. I will update this when I have finished one month. Calcium citrate and calcium citrate malate are both forms of calcium supplements, but they differ in structure, absorption, and potential benefits. Here’s a detailed comparison: 1. Composition • Calcium Citrate: A compound of calcium and citric acid. It typically provides about 21% elemental calcium by weight. • Calcium Citrate Malate: A combination of calcium, citric acid, and malic acid. It has a slightly lower elemental calcium content (about 15-18%) but is known for better bioavailability. 2. Absorption • Calcium Citrate: Well-absorbed and does not require stomach acid for absorption, making it suitable for people with low stomach acid or those taking acid-suppressing medications. • Calcium Citrate Malate: Offers superior absorption compared to calcium citrate, even at lower doses. Studies suggest that calcium citrate malate has a higher fractional absorption rate, meaning more calcium is absorbed into the bloodstream. 3. Digestive Tolerance • Calcium Citrate: Generally easy on the stomach but can cause mild digestive issues like bloating or gas in some people. • Calcium Citrate Malate: Similarly gentle on the stomach but with a slightly lower risk of gastrointestinal side effects due to its efficient absorption. 4. Effectiveness for Bone Health • Calcium Citrate: Effective in maintaining bone density when taken regularly with vitamin D. • Calcium Citrate Malate: Studies show it may be slightly more effective in promoting bone health because it is better absorbed and more bioavailable. It is often used in fortified foods and beverages. 5. Solubility • Calcium Citrate: Moderately soluble in water and easily dissolves in stomach acid. • Calcium Citrate Malate: Highly soluble and bioavailable in both water and acidic environments, making it particularly effective in supplements. 6. Cost and Availability • Calcium Citrate: Widely available and typically more affordable. • Calcium Citrate Malate: Slightly more expensive and less commonly available as a standalone supplement but often found in fortified products. Summary: Which to Choose? • Choose calcium citrate if: • You’re on a budget. • You need a simple, effective calcium supplement. • You have low stomach acid or take acid-suppressing medications. • Choose calcium citrate malate if: • You want optimal absorption and bioavailability. • You are concerned about bone health and want a supplement with proven benefits in studies. • You prefer a supplement with minimal gastrointestinal side effects. Both forms are excellent, but calcium citrate malate’s superior absorption may make it the better choice for maximizing calcium intake, especially for older adults or those with absorption issues.

A perfect way for bariatric patients to get their daily calcium
These are wonderful. I even turned my bariatric dietitian onto them and she encourages other patients to buy them too

Great option
Took some searching to find this product. Like the better quality ingredients and doses. Easy to swallow. Easy to split for twice daily dosing.

Good option if you need a calcium supplement
I take calcium regularly and have taken the Pure Nutrition calcium supplement daily for almost two months. They are large tablets but scored if you want to split them for easier swallowing. These seem fine and I will continue with these – hoping for a better Dexa scan next time.

larger tablets but can be split
This is a 6 month supply of calcium citrate. The dose is 1 tablet and there are 180 in the bottle. Some of the featured ingredients are 1000mg calcium citrate, 400 IU vitamin D3, 50mg magnesium oxide, 10mg zinc, 50mg moringa extract in a vegan tablet. it is also non-GMO, gluten, dairy free, soy free and has no artificial colors. The tablets are on the larger side for my liking, but you can split them for easier ingestion. as with all supplements check with your doctor before starting anything new
