I hope Honeywell restocks this item! We've used quite a few countertop ice models since our fridge is a built-in and the whole water system has failed and been disconnected. The smaller ones were OK but would always die after a year or so. Finally we got the Opal - which is considered the flagship model. Honestly, that one has been amazing for our family of 8 as our only ice maker - and I alone drink a gallon of ice water per day. I think there are three keys to our success on that - 1) It literally runs all day every day - stagnation is actually bad for these machines. 2) We use Reverse Osmosis water so nothing to build up; and 3) CRITICAL! When you first get this, do NOT hook it up for a minimum of 4 hours! These have condensers inside like a refrigerator and follow the same rules. You have no idea how much it got shaken up or turned around during the delivery cycle! So get it out, set it up, and let it sit for a minimum of 4 hours for the health of your compressor. BUT this isn't an Opal review - it's a review of the Honeywell. Having both (this is at my office), and being able to compare them, I like this unit better. The Opal has some shortcomings - it likes to fully power itself off way too easily (I schedule a wifi task to power it back on every morning as a safety - annoying!); It seems like once it fills up, it doesn't restart until someone opens and closes it. For us, it gets used so much, this isn't a problem, but it can be easily. The Honeywell will sit for days or even weeks just holding ice. As it melts, it kicks back on periodically to keep itself always topped off. Always keep it on - cold water won't generally grow stuff - but let it get warm or power it off without draining, and you're in for an extensive cleaning process. The GE doesn't have a water line option - you have to do a conversion kit that doesn't look super great - this one came in either. For my location, I started with the water tank and I'll end up doing a similar conversion BUT I'll design it myself so it looks better. If you know you'll have a water line, definitely buy that one! All in all, I just find the Honeywell to be a little more basic and reliable where the opal is a little finicky while costing more. Some notes - wifi on an ice maker is absolutely pointless. And ALL countertop ice makers are extremely noisy - the Honeywell and the GE Opal are basically the same. They're noisiest when they run out of water - and that's also what's hardest on the pumps - so just don't let them run out. They won't make nearly as much noise since nothing needs to be made overnight. And pay really close attention to the rest of the models out there - many of the box style ones have you put water in the top, then it makes ice which melts and now water collects in the bottom - for some reason, there's no pump to recycle that water! That's what ultimately made me try this one out - it was the only one cheaper than the Opal that recycled water. Great product - I hope it comes back! With the water line version, it's an automatic winner over the GE.

It's definitely not worth the money. It worked great for 3 weeks and all of a sudden it quit making ice definitely would not waste your money on this product.

Great ice but extremely heavy and very loud!

Mine worked for about 4 to 5 months before the cooling fan started occasionally making a whining noise. Now at the 8 month mark it's started making other odd noises and will stop making ice and have to be reset to get it to work again. I seriously doubt it will make it a full year before it dies completely. Not worth the cost.

This pebble ice maker i great! It’s exactly what I wanted. It makes ice quickly. It isn’t very loud when making ice. Definitely quieter than my washing machine and dishwasher. I like the light for night time. I wasn’t quite sure about it before I bought it because it didn’t have any reviews BUT I know that the Honeywell brand is a great brand, so I figured why not try it out. So far so good. We do only use distilled water and not tap water. I have done a cleaning cycle once and then wiped out the inside once it was done. Overall a total recommend.
