I have some experience with RC cars and airplanes but this is my first helicopter. As a complete beginner, I can say that this helicopter is beginner-friendly and extremely fun to fly. This helicopter is small but the rotor still produces an intimidating hum; this is definitely not a kids' toy. If you are a beginner like me, take the time to learn. Read the manual. Fly outdoors with no wind in a wide open space. Practice taking off and landing, then practice lateral movement, then practice changing heading. Then begin adding things together. I find it to be a little tricky but a really rewarding experience. I was happy to see that you have the option of clicking the auto take off button or doing it yourself. There is something satisfying about starting the rotors up and taking off manually. There are also three speed settings. I guess this governs how much the servos move to control rotor tilt. There is a noticeable difference in how fast the helicopter moves on each speed setting. Battery life is claimed to be 12 minutes and I think that is probably accurate. It's not very long. It seems like the battery is always running out, which makes sense as it's basically full-gas the entire time to keep it airborne. The good part is that they include two batteries (I wish they included three!). It also comes with two spare main rotor blades and one spare tail rotor. I have to admit, I don't really know what it means by "air pressure setting" and "optical flow positioning". The helicopter hovers pretty well in one spot if the controls are left alone, but sometimes experiences some dipping up and down. It does respond pretty well to my corrective input if it begins bobbing. I have crashed this helicopter several times during the learning process. I'm surprised to find that it still functions like it did when it was new and hasn't sustained any visible damage. I'm impressed by the durability. I don't have a lot to compare it to, but my instinct is that this is a good value for the price. The flying experience is extremely fun and the build quality seems great. Time will tell how good the internals are. I would definitely recommend this model as any RC enthusiast's first helicopter.
