Is this polyester-free?

I don't know for sure because it didn't come with a tag, but I would say it is polyester. It is very soft and huggable, but it's not made from natural fiber. Sorry!

What are the eyes made of?

It’s just part of the fabric print. The face is just a print that’s on the fabric that the animal is made out of so there are no separate eyes for it.

My Mom is 93 and has everything. She loves animals and has cats. I put this in her Xmas gift and she was thrilled. The snarky look on the fat cat’s face is perfect. Just makes it cuter. It arrives in a shrink pack and wow does it ever puff out! It is soft and comfortable.
