Not quite what I thought
Well, I was hoping this was going to be an easy install. But what I found is as follows:: 1. The assembly of the turbine was extremely difficult. The metal cross pieces are too long. So you cannot insert the washers. I had to bend the white aluminum several times to gerry-rig the assembly. The instructions are terrible. 2. I searched everywhere to find a stanchion that would fit the flange built into the base of the turbine. It comes with one mating flange for which I bought a 18” steel pipe, and a flat 4”X4” with holes plate. I took these pieces to a welder to make the stanchion. $150 later, I drilled a hole big enough to insert a 4 conductor cable. I primed and painted it white to match. 3. The weight of the blades doesn’t allow to turbine to turn freely in low wind. It takes a gust just to move it. As you can tell, I also anchored it in 4 places to prevent it from blowing over. 4. Adding it to a solar panel takes one a whole new meaning of difficulty. The unit comes with a voltage regulator, but doesn’t work when connecting it to solar panels. Also, no instructions came with the regulator either. 5. I purchased a hybrid solar, turbine, voltage regulator, 3 pole DC breaker, and junction box to piece it all together. By the way: Everything for this install came from Amazon. If you’d like a list, ask a question from this product. This was just the turbine install. Next is electrically connecting it up. I’ll add to this review when completed. Stay tuned.
