Retroflag SUPERPi Case with Wired Controller for Raspberry Pi 3B+ 2B 3B Deluxe Edition UCase Set

Amazing case!! 4.5 stars! This case would make for a great set top box case as well. Why? The shutdown and reset script is really easy to install and it works great. Haven't had one hiccup in 5 days of using it. It caught me off guard cause I wasn't expecting it to be so seamless.4.5 stars but when i had to round up or down it is definitely a round up! Why 4.5? The screw holes to mount the raspberry pi and the case don't appear to be pre-tapped. So I'm worried that you can't take this apart multiple times. At the price though and considering how good the controller is I can forgive it for now. Let's see how it holds up with future disassembles.Ended up installing a fan in mine (not pictured) cause I didn't want an experience breaking situation where I'm gaming with friends and it overheats. Wasn't willing to do the necessary testing with and without fan (also didn't want to disassemble multiple times to do said testing) so I just put a fan. By adding background music at a low volume to my retropie menu system (look online, great tutorials available) I can't really notice the fan sound over the music.OK, the controller!! I ended up buying a second deluxe set for a second controller and as a spare case. I like the case and controller that much. Might put a spare raspberry pi 2 into it. Retroflag please please sell the controller as a stand alone device. The L and R buttons were the main difference for me vs Buffalo controllers I have.The nostalgia, the superfamicon design jumped out to me cause the snes is a console my family couldn't afford as a kid. We had the nes and i loved playing classics on it but my family didn't buy a console again until play station. So the controller with the colored buttons is something i associate with brief game sessions at friends place that I wish lasted longer. Its so nice being able to play classics from nes, snes, genesis, and play station again! Things I dug out of my brain like contra, streets of rage, aladdin, bloody roar 2, jackie chan stuntmaster. To play them with a retro feel is huge! I have dolphin emulator on my PC and that didn't hook me as much as this couch experience has!Now to be clear you don't need the case to enjoy retropie on a raspberry pi sitting on your entertainment stand. However, I wasn't tempted to explore until I saw this well put together solution. I know its weird but it's the shutdown and reset script that did it for me. For my plex/kodi raspberry pi entertainment system I was ok with it being on 24/7 but a retropie gaming system is something I'll want to just work, turn on/turn off, lend it to friends, whatever. It is quite user friendly now and I'm enjoying exploring retropie and learning more!

First off, I'm an idiot.Now that we've cleared the air, allow me to save you some grief. When you go to install the Pi into the case (Pi 3 B+ for me) make sure you TAKE THE MICROSD CARD OUT. Otherwise, if you are trying to line up you may have issues. While I didn't exert much pressure, I found that it doesn't take much pressure to break a MicroSD card. In half. I've built mainly big PC's, a SFF build for VR. I've never had to mess with an SD card in a build so I didn't even think about it.Retroflag. PLEASE add a red line of text to your instructions that warns users to remove the MicroSD card before inserting it in the case. While I consider this information common sense, I wish I had read it. A dumb move on my part but hopefully it can save others unnecessary grief. You can send me an SD card if you want but I consider this my fault, not the manufacturers.Back to the case itself - The build quality is WONDERFUL. It reminds me of the robustness of the original SNES. I love the clever storage at the top and the working eject button. The ports are very logical and the install, minus one card, was very simple. The fan and power switch worked like a charmThe controller is surprisingly accurate, as others have said. I thought it was a bit small when my buddy pointed out that my hands are much bigger than when I held one of these before. Nostalgia indeed.

8/27/2018I just received this case in the mail today and quickly set it all together. I am very happy to report that the SUPERPi Case is a very good retro console case for your Raspberry Pi. The case itself feels a bit weighty and very sturdy. The attention to detail is top notch. Everything functions well, especially the microSD storage area. It is an extremely nice aesthetic touch. I am running a Raspberry Pi 3B+ and have installed RetroFlag's shutdown/restart script. It works, plain and simple.In regards to the power issues that stemmed from the NES case (I have one of the older NES Cases without the Safe Shutdown option). I have not had any issues so far. I am currently using a 5V 3A power supply to run the Pi. The cabling used in the SUPERPi is a bit thicker than that used on the NES, so there should not be any issues going forward.Now on to the controller. The controller is as well built and as study as the case itself. It has the same plastic texturing as the case and it feels very comfortable in my hands. The buttons have a good responsive click to them, like a game controller should have. Yes, the X & Y Buttons have the same recessed shape as the original SNES controller. I do hope RetroFlag plans to sell the controllers separately, and maybe even offer an NES style to go with their other case.All in all, if you are looking for a SNES style case for your Pi, this is a great option.
