Amazing product. A must-have for readers.
Have you ever bought something that made you say "where have you been my whole life?"... This was one of those products for me. I can finally read without having my hands cramp up from holding the book. I can read while I eat my breakfast. I can use it in the kitchen to hold the cookbook or my Kindle Fire to watch cooking videos while I work. It also holds my clip-on book light nicely. It's a game-changer and I foresee myself spending many, many hours with it. I bought the largest one (15.6 x 10.4 inches) but I'll probably end up getting a small one as well for when I'm reading paperbacks. I've included several photos in my review. I've tried several different things to give you an idea of this stand's abilities and possible shortcomings. The thickest book I have is a leather-bound Shakespeare collection that's just under 3" thick. This stand handles it with ease. I was concerned about its ability to hold such a thick book when it is turned to the first few or last few pages, but as you can see in the photo, it's not really a problem, however, the springy arms struggle a bit to manage the thick side. It still works though. I'm also not concerned about the weight of the book since the stand feels very stable and could handle much more than this book. The rubber feet on the bottom of the stand hold it in place nicely as well. Next, let's look at smaller books. I used my paperback copy of 1984 for this which is 4" wide and 7.5" tall. The arms were almost too far apart to handle the book and it might be a little cumbersome to use them for books of this size. This is why I'm going to buy the smaller version of the stand for when I'm reading paperbacks like this. I also tried a medium-sized book: one of the "B&N Classics" paperbacks which measure roughly 5" wide and 8" tall and it worked very nicely for this size of book and the arms had no trouble reaching up to the middle of the page (vice having to be at the bottom of the page for the smaller book). Lastly, some people have asked if it can hold individual sheets of paper. There is a very slight gap between the backboard and the support board. I placed a sheet on there and one corner fell partway through. However, you can use the clips to hold the paper in place so it still works for individual sheets, you just have to use the clips. Anything thicker than a single sheet should be fine even without the clips. It can hold an index card without the clips. Also, don't think that this stand is only for traditional books. I've been reading my Kindle with it and it's just as good for that. I haven't used it in the kitchen yet, but I get a lot of recipes from videos and I'm looking forward to being able to prop up my Fire on it while I cook. Another thing that concerned me before buying this was that the support in the back is plastic. I was afraid that it would be flimsy and easily broken, but it's thick, sturdy plastic and I do not worry about that at all. The board itself has a sort-of hard vinyl feeling with wood grain texture. It feels similar to laminate flooring planks. I would like it if there were a "luxury" model that used real wood, but to be honest this one will probably hold up better than real wood. Overall, I'm very, very pleased with this product and now I look forward to reading even more. If I were in a classroom that required me to look at a textbook, I wouldn't dream of going to class without one of these to prop up the book.

Happy with this purchase!
This bood stand has already proved its worth. I nerded out and took it to the library because it is so useful that I don't even care how ridiculous it looks to set it up. It has alleviated my neck pain and gives me more desk space to work. I generally keep the big books on this and two smaller reference books on either side and my laptop in front. It is very convenient to see all of them at once while I am studying. I am a grad student in a medical program that requires the use of very large textbooks that I "lift with my legs" so that I do not hurt my back. This stand hold them in, which was pretty surprising to me even though it seems to be constructed very well. When I am reading in the very beginning or end of the book, one of the springed holders struggles to get on top of the page, but it does hold a large amount before it has this problem and I really don't think there is a realistic solution to this (other than making a friend hold the page down manually). They are perfectly tightened to be useable without forcing them, and hold heavy textbooks in place. The large books will even stay without their use, which I sometimes do if I'm flipping back and forth constantly to find info. I love the many different angles that I can adjust it to and the back piece feels sturdy enough to last under the weight of my books. Even though it seems well made, it is relatively lightweight and doesn't add much to my backpack, especially when compared to my textbooks. It was definitely worth the money and I would recommend it to any student who has to do a lot of reading, especially if from multiple books at once, or if hunching over a book flat on your desk is getting painful.

Best stand I've used for school (portable) and home (permanent). I own 3 now!
I have had two of the 12.8" versions for a few years now and they still work great. I use them on the computer desk, at school, and at my writing desk. I just ordered the 11.5" version and it is even better for school because the smaller size fits better in my backpack, yet is just as sturdy as the others. Be sure you order this version that has the back piece that looks like a butterfly and has "NICE productions.com" on it, since I cannot vouch for any other version. I have used the bookstands that are metal wire and they are flimsy and can't hold the pages open. This model is 10 times better. PROS: sturdy, holds the pages, relatively light, adjustable, has lasted for a few years now and nothing has broken. it's portable / travel worthy. low cost. CONS: NONE! honestly, I have no complaints at all. although for perfection I'd say some improvements could be: lighter (imagine a thin metal plate instead), and possibly smaller for portability (10"?). CONCLUSION: great product, great price. buy it. buy two. buy one for each student in the house!

Useful and sturdy bookstand
SUMMARY: This is a great product. it is sturdy, light, and holds pages in place. DETAIL: Unlike some similar products, the bottom holders (to keep the pages in places) are fully adjustable to different angles, which makes it easy to use for different sized books. There are also many options for the angle of the back piece. I was specifically looking for these two things, so I didn't care whether the back can be raised or lowered (which some bookstands offer). If I want the stand higher, I just put it on top of something, like a stack of books.

I bought the other brand of highly rated bookstand on Amazon but was fairly disappointed, the pageholder was screwed in the bookstand and was no good after 1 month of usage. Then I tried this one and was very satisfied, the pageholders are very thin and durable, it is attached to the bookstand through strong springs which make all the difference. It also minimize the amount of content blocked by the pageholders, which I didn't think would be a big thing but it actually really matters. With bookstands, I would say the stand itself isn't that different between products, you won't break them anyways. The most important element in my opinion is the pageholder - a bad pageholder would ruin the whole thing and there isn't an easy way to fix it. By contrast, this bookstand do stand out compared to its peers with nice quality pageholders. The only downside I experienced was that, my wife loves it too much and took it from me...... so I had to buy a second one for myself and endure a week or so without a good bookstand. Other than this I have nothing to complain :) I would highly recommend this product.

Bought this as present for my grandson at university. It is ideal for his thick txt books. It is also well made and fits on his desk next to his computer without taking up too much room. Although the delivery date was given as two weeks after order date it arrived within about 5 days which was really a bonus
